I just called her to tell her about my invitations and emailed her a picture. Momzilla: 'Is that the font you used?' Me: 'No, we did a combination of printed for the body of text, and script for our names...' :silence' Momzilla: 'Oh' Me: 'It looked really pretty...' Momzilla:'Oh, well, you know me - I like more elegant style... Don't listen to me - it's your wedding...'
ARGH! And now I sit here second guessing the friggin FONT on my invitations.
Thank God she DOES like the invitations - I am NOT sitting through another look-see of thousands of invitations..... Amy
My friend is using those invites....they are Really very beautiful...dont worry about it...in the whole scheme of things, it is just FONT on the invites... YOu will love it and so will she when she sees it...

I think they're very pretty and they look elegant to me. My mother is a pain too. I sent her a pic of the dress Im buying for my wedding in Vegas and she told me she didnt care for it, not her taste, when I told her I was buying it anyway she told me well that's fine but I think it looks cheap. Wanna talk about second guessing. Until I realized that I wasnt spending an arm and a leg on a gown for Vegas just to buy another for the big day in 2007. Do what you want she'll get over it

Yeah - I know. At one point last night we were looking at invites w/ a platinum border and I actually said 'I don't think it will match the BM dresses....' My FI looked at me and said (totally serious) 'Will people be bringing their invitations to the wedding to match up the colors?' DUH! That reigned me in..... How ridiculous of me.
And now I'm worrying about font style (although now I AM thinking of switching to all script) Editted to say : Thank you for the reply.....

Don't switch your font!!! I absolutely adore the combining of two fonts, it really makes an invite different. Moms don't realize that weddings have changed ALOT since they last took the trip down the ol' aisle! My mom comments on every little detail I point out.. and usually says 'Oh well, it's not my wedding after all!'.. Thats correct mother.. IT's MINE! lol....Do what makes you happy! Don't settle, you'll kick yourself later! Go for it!

What exactly is un-elegant about those invitations? I think they are beautiful. Really, don't think about it again. Go with your original plan and they will look great!

cut the cord and order them if YOU and FH love them! and IMO they look great! and ps...if mom is giving you grief about the font then beware when other things come up...the flowers, placecards, music...everything. you may want to be careful about what you ask her opinion about. only do it when you really need it and are willing to change your mind.

We have a combination of script and small caps (print), and it looks stunning and elegant . We got compliments from even the most traditional, old-school guests. I think it's sometimes hard for people to wrap their minds around an unfamiliar concept, but once they see it all done and printed, they end up liking it.
Choose what you love, and don't think twice. You are classy person-- trust your gut!

It is soo easy to get caught up in everything... I have the opposite problem- nothing I like matches
Your invitations are really pretty- and WILL be really pretty regardless of the font! Don't let your mom make you upset- when mine does stuff like that I just force myself to remember that she is going through a whole ramge of emotions too!
