My mother made a request the other night-sorry a lil long

My mother made a request the other night-sorry a lil long

she wants me to play her and my dads wedding song and for the 2 of them to dance alone on the floor. i said 'um, why'. i wasn't planning on it and i felt that was a little wrong for her to ask me that. their anniversay was in january so there is no meaning towards it to play.

i'm i right or am i just being a beeyotch?

I'm never the center of attraction. its my day and i want all attention on kevin and me. not to have my parents on the floor to themselves for a couple of minutes. if i do that then i feel i have to do my FIL's song too and i sooooooo don't want to do that.

she got offended when I said no. i didn't say it nasty. i said no and explained why and she still was offended. she feels like cause its my wedding its hers too. i don't think so. she's been getting her way on a few things that i've caved in cause i'm sick of fighting. i've got to put my foot down on some things.

I wouldn't normally do it either but one of FH's best friends, who is in the wedding party, got married last year on our date. We are dedicating a song to them since our wedding day is their one year anniversary

i would do that too if my mother wasn't such a me me me person. one of my BM's will be married 5 years on may 13. i would have done something for them but not after this fiasco

Aww... Maybe if you play the song w/ a dedication, but EVERYONE will dance to it?

I wouldn't think it was crazy if she requested that they play it and have it announced that it was their wedding song (as one of your slower songs) and have all couples come up to the dance floor but, to have them dance alone is a little ridiculous.

My parents and my in laws did that at our wedding and it was a tribute to them being our parents. It was beautiful and everyone loved it.

I agree with this... I don't think they should dance alone, that puts them in the spotlight. THey had their day years ago, now it you and FHs turn. Its the one day you get to be selfish.

I don't think you're being a b1tch - It doesn't make sense to me to do that on your wedding day if your parents anniversary is no where close to that day.

What about having them play the song, having the DJ invite your parents up and then also invite everyone else up too???

I was going to do this, but not as them alone, but for the song to be played in rotation during the night for them to dance to. Both parents said they didn't want that, so we did away with the idea.

I agree with this suggestion. It's YOUR day...your mom already had her wedding!

If you were to do that you would have to ask everyone to get off the dance floor to watch you parents. They would really break up the flow of the wedding. I would have the DJ make an annoucement that it's their song but not just have the two of them up there.
