My name starts with a 'K'...did you see it on the invitation?
Ok I have to laugh, yes, my name Kathryn is spelled a bit different than people are used to...but DH's grandma, who has known me for 6 years now, just sent us a card written to Catherine & Blaine...she saw the invitation, the programs, the favors all covered with our names and wedding date...granted she is 93 but i made sure i spelled her name right on the program!!!! hahaha... just had to share my laugh...oh and she addressed the envelope Mr & Mrs...i am keeping my name

Aww, poor grandma. Old age is a doozy. Sure she has best intentions! That would give me a good giggle though too!

O I hate when people do that...I've had that happen to me my WHOLE life... my name is Kristin and EVERYONE always spells it Kristen... teachers would correct my papers or tests or whatever and if they wrote me a note they'd still msspell my name even though it was on top of the page! And we have this family friend who I have known for like 7 years, and she spells my nam Kristen... I email her and sign it Kristin and sure enough the next email I get form her says Kristen.... drives me crazy!

I hear you ladies. I'm a Krista, which has gained popularity over the years, but still throws some people for a loop. Since I was a kid I've been called Kristen, Krystal, Christine...any K name, I've been called it. I actually had someone ask me, 'Yeah, but what's on your birth certificate?' Um, Krista? DUH!

My SIL sent me a card for something and spelled my name Cara. It was signed from her and my brother (obviously she wrote the card). She'd known me for about FIVE years at that point AND knew how to spell my name.
As for the Mr. and Mrs. -- many people will make that mistake and you can't take it personally -- especially if they didn't know or weren't sure. I'm sure they don't mean anything by it.
And a good family friend spells Kathryn the same way! That was how I always thought it was spelled b/c she was the first Kathryn I ever knew!

LOL, try having YESENIA as a first name!!! If it's not misspelled, it's mispronounced!
People always f up the spelling. I've seen Yessenia, Yesennia, Jesenia, Jessenia, Yesinia, Yessina, etc etc.
Then my nickname is Yesi (pronounced 'Jessie') and so when I tell them it's Y-E-S-I, can you believe people have said, 'oh so it's J-Y-E-S-I'? I'm like, um there's no 'J'.
And when people see it on paper, they pronounce it every which way. The correct way is 'Yeh-SEH- nee-ah' (accent on the second syllable) but people love to call me yeh-SEEEE-nee-ah or even 'yeh-seh-NEEEE-ah' or basically whatever they want. Gets annoying after 28 years or so, lol. But what can you do.

Randi isn't any better!!! My grandparents STILL spell my name Rand-Y half the time. I'm like YOU'VE KNOWN ME FOR 26 YEARS?!?! HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO REMEMBER I'M NOT A BOY?!

Im spelled just like you and i can DEFINITELY understand what you mean....fh's own MOTHER spelled my name katherine....UGHHHHH!!!

I totally understand the frustration over people getting your name wrong! For some reason people seem to think that Jessica and Jennifer sound alike. I've actually started to answer to Jennifer!! I know they were both popular names in the 80's, but to confuse Jessica with Jennifer..... Come on people!!!!!!!

ahh...the older generation...they wouldn't get it if you tattoed the proper spelling to their forehead!!!
i get 1 l in my name (michelle) all the time, and although it looks lovely, IT IS NOT HOW YOU SPELL MY NAME!

out of FH's ENTIRE family the only person to get it right is FMIL
his grandparents are always making me little crafts with MATILDA on them and it stinks bc i wont display them
and when i spell it for people i will say E and they will ALWAYS say oh A right? like i made a mistake
