I have laid down the law that there will be no children at my wedding or reception. The invites are going out as Mr. & Mrs. _______ and 2 places have been reserved in your honor and adult reception to follow. So basically, I have done everything possible to make it clear that children are not welcome. Further, if i get those annoying calls asking me, 'Can we bring our baby/child' the answer will be unequivically, no.
My worry however, is what happens if someone actually shows up with their baby/child that day despite all efforts?
Do I :
a) Have someone ask them to leave? That would, of course, be horrendous.
b) Do nothing. What can I do at that point?
c) Ask them to pay for the child because I now have to?
Has anyone had this experience? What would/will you do if this happens to you?

Re: My Newest Wedding Worry
It's obviously your wedding and you can do whatever you want. But after having already gone through the wedding I realize that little things like that are best ignored. I was adamant about not having any crying babies during our ceremony (two children about 1yr-old were going to be there). However, even with the little yelps during the ceremony, it was barely noticable. I'm just saying, don't let something like that cause friction. In the end, you won't even notice it. And with regards to paying, our RH didn't charge for children under 4 so check that out.

Re: My Newest Wedding Worry
I would really hope that after all your efforts to keep it adult only that people would respect that. i mean how akward would those parents feel when they walked to their table and there wasnt a seat for their child?? its not a airplane- they cant sit on their lap! and i really cannot get over that people are still calling to ask if they can bring their kids!!! so hopefully no kids show up!!! and if they did bring them, at that point i would just let it be and pretend they arent there. its your day and you def dont want to be bothered or stressed because of it. you tried your hardest!!

Re: My Newest Wedding Worry
I know people have crazy guest stories...but you are really underminding those who you have invited to celebrate with you that they can't read an invitation and understand what Adult Only Means.
I invited over 350 people to my wedding and did not have one issue with someone bringing a date who wasn't invited or a child that was not included on the invitation.
Give people credit.
If it is laying out more money -- keep in mind that at least one person will not come the day of. Whether they call or not you will have last minute cancellations so you will be paying for extra people that don't come.

Re: My Newest Wedding Worry
I didn't want kids at my wedding either (except my FG) but one of my friends was BFing and had to bring her baby and she was coming all the way from Florida. So I really couldn't say no. As it turned out, I never even knew that the baby was there...he was so good and I don't even think he cried. As for ppl bringing kids without asking..well I've heard of this happening, but honestly there's not much you can do in that case. It's your wedding day and you will be having a great time...you probably won't even notice him or her. Most of the time there are (unfortunately) a couple of no shows...it won't cost you any more money to have them there. Try not to worry about things you cannot control...it only causes you stress
