My nightly rant - Smoking

My nightly rant - Smoking

I just spent about a half hour with a smoker downstairs and in that time I managed to get nauseous. I don't get the appeal.

same here! I never thought I would be with a smoker, I caused my parents to quit (as I would make my dad smoke outside through hail, blizzards, rain!)

Trying to x that habit

I have to say I fully agree w/ Leslie's quote on that one. But we love her!!!!

FH promised to stop smoking as of 9/1, I fully back Bloomberg on his ban.

Yet I do understand it is an addiction & a hard habit to kick.

I personally think its a nasty habit.

Quitting smoking after 20-something years was the hardest thing I ever did. I loved the act of it, the smell of it, the taste of it. I don't crave it anymore though! Almost 4 months now.....

Ditto! I never thought I could be with a smoker, let alone marry one. His mom died young bc of lung cancer, but he still can't stop, he's too addicted. It makes me so sad and scared!!!

But that's great Michele, I'm really happy for you!!!

I am a smoker (trying to quit) and it is very rude IMO when you are outside somewhere smoking and these 'self-righteous non-smokers' make this HUGE deal (cover their mouths, give you dirty looks). I mean give me a freakin break, I am outside and have every right to smoke where I see fit. Obviously, if there was a baby or an older person around I would not be blowing smoke in thier face. I think the people who make the biggest stink are disgruntled ex-smokers. Sorry I had to vent as well. Thanks for listening.

ewwww...I was at a play Friday night with Fh and the people in front of me were smokers. They stank to high heaven. It really made me sick.

Re: My nightly rant - Smoking

For those ladies who are trying to quit, I wish you the best of luck. I know it isn't easy.

I am not one of those self righteous people who gives dirty looks or passes comments even though smoking in my face directly affects MY health. I was in someone's private home who chooses to smoke. - my soon-to-be-ex-landlord who smokes a pack or two a day - and thus could not say a thing as it was her right to smoke in her own home. Last year she had a radical mastectomy and you think that would have given her enough of a scare to try to avoid any other types of illnesses in order to prolong her life.

We all have our vices. I had/have one too and I had to do something pretty unconventional in order to save my own life from it. Before that, I did get stares, comments and hurtful actions put towards me. So I do watch what I say in public. I reserve my comments and thoughts for this forum (or forums like this) as I tend not to be confrontational.

I think you girls have encouraged me to once again try to quit smoking. I have been smoking for over 10 years, and really want to stop. I had one cigarette today, let's see if I can go the rest of the day without one.

Wish me luck, update tomorrow

If it helps then great. Just know it was not my intention to start something or make anyone feel bad. The last time I opened my mouth, we got a t-shirt contest!
