My NOBU review!!! (For all you sushi lovers)
I took my DH to Nobu for his birthday last Friday (his birthday was actually Thursday). It was an awesome dinner! We decided to get the Omakase, which is the Chef's Tasting Menu. They have 3 prices to choose from, we went middle of the road. Our server was very friendly and helpful, she asked us if we had any allergies or any types of food we didn't like. The only thing I didn't want was caviar. So the Omakase was a 6 course dinner, and each was some type of fish that I had never had before! Here's a breakdown of the courses:1 - Raw Otoro Tuna (fatty part of the tuna, supposed to be the best part of the fish) with wasabi sauce and a little japanese peach that I had never heard of before.
2 - Steamed oysters (a special 'sweeter and plumper' kind from Japan) in a sesame and scallion sauce
3 - Sashimi (I forget what kind of fish it was, I think she said a breed of yellowtail, also the 'choice' part of the fish) with some kind of sprouts salad
4 - Lobster tempura (need I say more?
)5 - Their signature dish: Black Cod with Miso sauce... SPECTACULAR!
6 - A plate of 6 pieces of sushi, and 5 of them I had never heard of before or can remember now! Mostly exotic fish from Japan. (the 6th was mackerel).
Every single course was TO DIE FOR!! So delicious!!!!
We then had dessert, which was a pistachio cream and raspberry 'maki roll' with mint sauce. The mint sauce tasted so fresh, like it was juiced from real mint leaves. Incredible!
OK, it was expensive... including drinks (we each had 2 martinis, I had mango and DH had lychee... YUMMY!!!) and tip it was over $300. But when the food and the service is that good I don't mind spending a lot. It was a special occasion. My birthday is in February and we KNOW we'll be going back!!!
Our first trip to Nobu will definitely not be the last!

My dad loves it there, I've never been! We're thinking of getting him a gift certificate to Nobu as a parent gift for the wedding. Glad you had a great time!

Re: My NOBU review!!! (For all you sushi lovers)
WOW that sounds GREAT!Jim and I have been sneaking over to the new Benihana's next to the Source. We used to go to the one further away (forget the name of the road) next to that big Bed Bath & Beyond.
This new Benihana's is really nice and ALWAYS empty. No one seems to know it's open. The service has been excellent and it's so clean. Jim & I decided to visit the Sushi bar this last time.
We've both heard GREAT things about Nobu. We plan to go, but just can't seem to justify it yet.
Great review though!
Thanks

I had to make reservations one month TO THE DAY in advance!! I could only call between 10am and 5pm. I didn't get through until 12:15, and then there were only 2 tables left! So if you want to go for Valentine's Day, mark your calendar for Jan. 14th. It will be worth it, we totally loved it there!!!

Re: My NOBU review!!! (For all you sushi lovers)
I brought DH there for his b-day in February - Morimoto himself was there and he took a photo with DH and signed our menus - it was awesome! Not to mention an entire table next to us of Philadelphia Flyers! If you go to www.opentable.com you can reserve may resturants across the country on-line and see what dates and tables they have available - that's how i booked Morimotos!

Hi Rach!! You're so funny... too bad we can't convert Sean into a sushi lover. Brian told me he saw you on the train, I was jealous! I miss you!! We really must try to get together before the twins come along, I have to see how much you've grown!
Happy Hanukkah to you, Merry Christmas to Sean, and Happy New Year to both!!!

Oh the dessert is awesome! I had the Bento Box green tea ice cream and a chocolate soufle. Their fish is the best and the Kobe beef was amazing. Thinking about it just makes me drool.Welcome New Vendors
