I'm in the same boat... so far I am missing 75 responses. I know I will be way under out minimum.

Re: My not make our minimum
originally I wanted to invite work friends, but I have been a bit unsocial lately I have very little time to socialize because my commute takes over 3.5 hours out of my day. I felt like they wouldn't want to travel to LI and felt like they would feel uncomfortable.

Re: My not make our minimum
I invited just about everyone I worked with at my last firm and the majority of them declined.
I'm going to be way under...

How about a LIweddings table? Ha, Ha!
Perhaps you can ask them to throw some extras. And that is a great idea. I'd love to come and be part of the LIWeddings Table.....

Re: My not make our minimum
It stinks you may not meet your minimum. I've gotten about a third of our RSVPs back and I'm facing the opposite problem, I've only gotten 4 nos. There are people I know will say no, but they havent sent their card back. I hate that people can't just send the stupid thing back. It's not so difficult, we stamp it for them and everything.

I also recommend giving it a few more days - people may be mailing their RSVP cards today (or have mailed them yesterday, or something). We had to call *a lot* of people afterward.
Regardless, make sure you enjoy your day! The Carlyle is so lovely, and the food is fabulous! Just don't make the mistake I made by skipping dessert!

I am so nervous! Today is our RSVP date. I don't think we will make our minimum.
I have to start calling people to send their response cards.
Anyone else in this situation?
i had to do the same thing, it happens!

Re: My not make our minimum
we just made ours...
we have 96 (may have 2 more, but FH's friend is being a PITA) plus 9 vendors
guaranteed 80
invited 165-170 (but many were overseas who we knew were not coming, so really we invited about 140)
i totally lucked out. it could have gone many ways as 1/2 of our guests are from OOT. i knew to lowball the number and decided on this approach:
guarantee 80 target 100 will pay for 125
invited ~140
i think this is good info for future brides now going through the booking process - err on the side of caution! lowball the number! it's much easier to add on than take off.
try to negotiate with your venue, see if they can compensate you somehow...

Re: My not make our minimum
Welcome to my world!
Looks like we will be 5-6 short on our minimum but we figure that's how many vendors we have to feed so at least our vendors won't be extra (even though they were discounted still extra $$).
Mine was 10 days ago and I am still getting response cards. Oh the joys of being a bride.

Re: My not make our minimum
Well, I would definitely try to renegotiate. The room probably won't look empty they cna configure it in a way that it will look full, I'm sure. My sister failed to reach her minimum and she renegotiated with her hall. She's paying for the minimum guests but instead of payig for meals no one's eating she got extras at the coktails hour, etc. it's definitely worth a try. Also, don't give up hope. Make those calls! Good Luck!
