We've been talking about going to see my dress since Christmas, and I just called to see what time I should pick her up and she said, 'Oh, your cousin wants to go look for a job, so I have to cancel. I'm sure it's not the last time you'll go see it.' So my grandmother ditched me to take my obnoxious 16 year old cousin to look for a job. Glad to know her priorities.

Re: My own grandmother bailed on me for today....
I just got off the phone with my mother, and she said, 'Well, I'm only going now because I feel like I have to.' I feel like I'm going to cry. Why would you say that to someone?

I'm so sorry to hear that! I don't know why people get like this around weddings. When I had my BMs come look at my dress, my former MOH told me I inconvenienced them all, because most were coming from the Bronx. I guess that's why she's not my MOH anymore, that jerk.....
I'm sure that neither your mom or grandma meant to hurt your feelings about it.......

Re: My own grandmother bailed on me for today....
God, this has turned into a huge thing now My mom then decided to tell my sister not to come, so now she's mad, then my mom called to chew my grandmother out, then I got the pity phone call from my grandmother saying she can take my cousin another time, and I told her not to worry, and then my mother called me again just now saying it's just going to be me and her and to hell with everyone else I'm just so upset.

Oh lord, families get to stupid around this time. None of it is a slight to you personally - people just don't realize how important things are to other people sometimes. It's a major cause of hurt with families in particular. Don't worry about it, they'll all see you in it eventually, and everyone will see how wonderful you look on your wedding day. So cheer up and have fun with your mom.

Sorry to hear this. If it makes you feel any better I had to practically beg to get one of my bridesmaids to come and see my dress!!! Nobody else has seen it!!! Everyone's way too busy!! Tomorrow I have to go BM dress shopping with my sister and I am sure it is going to be fun trying to get her out of bed!!!

I'm sorry Rachel.
How about we plan an additional GTG where we all go see your dress together?

Re: My own grandmother bailed on me for today....
Thanks girls! I'm so glad I have the support that I do here because if I were to cry over this to anyone else, they'd ignore me! So my mom and I went, and I'm really glad it was just the two of us (everything DOES happen for a reason). And even though I already have my gown, my mother thinks I should look at more expensive gowns (mine is from David's Bridal). This was her first time seeing it, and she just thinks a more expensive dress in the same style will be better, I love my dress but am going next week with her to look at 'expensive' dresses. If she wasn't the one who was paying, I wouldn't go, but we need to go now because they can cancel my order still if I find something else that I like. They've been waiting to order it since my mom hadn't seen it. I also have to say that the David's Bridal in Carle Place is awesome. The people have been SO helpful and even though it was busy today, we got incredible service. I was a little disappointed because my mom had like, no emotion on her face when she saw me in dresses. I thought she would have been at least A LITTLE emotional seeing her youngest all dressed up as a bride. But whatever, she claims she was fighting back the tears, not so sure I believe her. She also said that maybe she's just stuck up because she thinks I should be wearing a more expensive dress. As if that means anything. Whatever. Thanks again girls

Re: My own grandmother bailed on me for today....
Well, it's on accident really. I went to David's Bridal with some of my girlfriends just for fun and I fell in love with this dress. After losing all of my weight, I still LOVED this dress, so we put a deposit on it, because I didn't want to take the chance of not finding it again. It's no big deal, we'll just store it for now. It's just the way it worked out. If I find that I love the more expensive dresses, we'll just lose the deposit on the other dress and hold off looking. But I have a feeling I will be storing the other one. I love it.
