tell them to call me - I would love it if both my parents could be at my wedding - but my father passed away from cancer - and my uncle/godfather, who was supposed to walk me down the aisle, died of a heart attack last week, leaving behind three little girls under the age of 10. Tell them to stop being selfish, that they are lucky to be with you on your special day.
I am sorry to hear that!
thanks

Re: My parents havent seen eachother in 20 yrs
hi. . . i just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. . . i found myself in a similar situation when i got engaged. My parents had a very, very ugly divorce (my mother basically destroyed my father) and I really wanted to elope. However, then my FH convinced me that I deserved to have my special day and nothing, not even them, should take that away from me. SO, I told each of them. . . actually both families dislike each other. . . so i told everyone in my family that I was getting married and yes, family members from the other side would be there and i hoped they wouldn't base their participation in my special day on who was going to be there. In fact, I told them, I would hope that after so long they could have found some way of moving on and hopefully who was there wouldn't be at the top of their priority list. End result, my father is happily walking me down the isle. .. both sides of the family are looking forward to the day. . . not sure about my mother. . .can imagine she won't go, but that's her choice. It would be sad to not have her there, but I accept that that would be her choice and I think that she'll come around. Life is short. Don't sweat the small stuff!! If you have no control over it, let it go and work on the things you can control. I've been trying to work on that and I think it's making me a happier and less stressed person. You can't control the way other people think or behave, you can only express your needs and hopes rationally and hope they see the light. . . I think they will. . . good luck
