My parents went to a wedding at The Watermill last nite....
My parents went to a wedding at Watermill last nite and I told them to make mental notes about everything since that is where I am having my reception!! So here is my parents mini review haha
They said that they had sooo much fun and are now really excited for my wedding!! Everything ran so smoothly and the service was excellent.
Cocktail Hour: They said the food was out of this world! My mom said that the bride had called the day before her wedding to see if she could move the cocktail hour outside since it was going to be soo nice out and they made all the changes for her and my parents said it was gorgeous!! So hopefully when my wedding comes around we have some freaky 70 degree weather in March haha
Reception: The reception was in the downstairs room. They said it was a nice room and was decorated nicely. They just didnt like the low ceilings and the basement type feeling. They snuck upstairs to checkout the Astor Suite (where I am having mine) and they said it was gorgeous!! And again, the service was excellent. My mom said the waitors always made sure everyone had a drink and she didnt have to keep going to the bar, which was a plus!
Food: I have heard this from ALOT of people, and I have even said it about a wedding I went to so I wasnt surprised when they told me the food was just OK. They also said it was just luke warm (but they did have 300+ people so I am sure its hard to keep all that food hot). Definetly something I will bring up when my wedding gets closer!
Cake: They said it was good! I have had heard mixed things about the cake but they sad it was good. They did something different, they had a layer of cake, chocolate mousse, layer of cake, cannoli filling, and another layer of cake. They said everyone loved it so I think I am going to do that!
Flowers: I HAVE to find out what florist she used because my mom said the roses they had around the candelabras were GORGEOUS!
One more thing they kept raving about! They didnt do the Bo-K toss instead they had all the married couples get on the dance floor and the DJ said something like 'anyone married just 1 day leave the dance floor' so the bride and groom leave and then the DJ goes on to tell everyone married less than 5 years off the dance floor, then 10 years, 15 years, etc... They were left with 2 couples married over 50 years and everyone stood up and clapped for them and the one married longest of the 2 kept the Bo-K. My mom said it was really nice, but I wont do it because I have alot of young single people going to my wedding. But anyone looking for an alternative to the Bo-K toss should consider it because everyone loved it!
They were so excited to tell me everything about it this morning and that made me feel soo much better about my choice!! They said anyone having a wedding there will absolutely love it!!
