He has been dating this girl on and off for 4 years. She lives about 20 minutes away from him.
He proposed to her about 3 1/2 months ago, and everything was going great - til the other night when he went in her purse to grab her inhaler when she was having an asthma attack. He found WEED!!! The girl was always soooo goody goody, had such a sweet innocent disposition.
He stuffed it back in the bag and didn't say anything. Last night, they were all going to a bar to see our other friend's band. The girl was carded at the door, but got away with 'we're here for the band' - and they didn't check her ID.
So a little later, they're all sitting around drinking and some big bouncer guy comes up to the girl and asks for ID. She pulls out her ID, and OMG- she is 19 YEARS OLD!!!
My friend is 24, and this girl had him believing that she was only 3 yrs younger than him for the past 4 years!!! She was 15 and he was 20 when they met!
She had me fooled too - but I can't BELIEVE he didn't know! (She's not close w/ her family, so they don't celebrate bdays w/ them)
My friend took the gorgeous flawless diamond ring back to Fortunoff's, and they returned it for him at the FULL PRICE HE PAID!!! I think they felt sorry for him.... still, it's 3.5 months later and he got every cent back.
The guy feels like his life has been a lie for the past 4 years! I don't even know what to do to make it better for him....

Like the other girls said, it's terrible but better he find out now than after they are married!
you are all so sweet FH spent the night @ matt's apt last night, and Matt left about an hour ago to go visit his parents in Jersey. He's beyond upset - now he's just PI$$ED! It really is all pretty unbelievable - sounds like a bad movie!

What bothers me is that she put him at risk for statuatory rape. 17 is the legal age of consent for sexual relations in the state of NY. So if they met when he was 20 and she 'claims' to have been only 3 years younger, then he was in the clear (assuming they were having sex). But to put a man at risk for possible imprisonment and ruin his life, she deserves what a little girl should get - a spanking.
I hope his heart heals quickly and he finds a woman who is a bit more mature than the last one.

MATT DOESN'T WORK AT SBU!!!! He's a friend of FH's since they were 7. He became my friend THROUGH FH.
