My poor friend....

My poor friend....

He has been dating this girl on and off for 4 years. She lives about 20 minutes away from him.

He proposed to her about 3 1/2 months ago, and everything was going great - til the other night when he went in her purse to grab her inhaler when she was having an asthma attack. He found WEED!!! The girl was always soooo goody goody, had such a sweet innocent disposition.

He stuffed it back in the bag and didn't say anything. Last night, they were all going to a bar to see our other friend's band. The girl was carded at the door, but got away with 'we're here for the band' - and they didn't check her ID.

So a little later, they're all sitting around drinking and some big bouncer guy comes up to the girl and asks for ID. She pulls out her ID, and OMG- she is 19 YEARS OLD!!!

My friend is 24, and this girl had him believing that she was only 3 yrs younger than him for the past 4 years!!! She was 15 and he was 20 when they met!

She had me fooled too - but I can't BELIEVE he didn't know! (She's not close w/ her family, so they don't celebrate bdays w/ them)

My friend took the gorgeous flawless diamond ring back to Fortunoff's, and they returned it for him at the FULL PRICE HE PAID!!! I think they felt sorry for him.... still, it's 3.5 months later and he got every cent back.

The guy feels like his life has been a lie for the past 4 years! I don't even know what to do to make it better for him....

It suc%s, doesn't it?!?

Re: My poor friend....

I don't know im not one who can usually get passed lies and hurt trust but... HE really loved her he asked her to marry him. She is young and not very mature yet (maybe) and she was scared to tell him knowing he wouldnt want to be with her anymore that is why she lied to him. To me age is only a no. and really its not that much of a difference. If he loved her I think they could have worked it out.

Wow---I definitely feel for the guy.....but, how could he not know this girl after 4 years??? Something doesn't make sense. I think my FH had full access to my wallet and ID/ etc... after our 5th or 6th date. And haven't they gone out on romantic dates or out to bars in the last 4 years where she was carded??? This couldn't be the first place she was ever carded since they've been together, right? In 4 years??? Something sounds very fishy with the story. And what about everyday things...like putting in your birthday for lines of credit, utilities, ordering things over the phone?? I don't know.....very weird.

I suppose if they didn't live together and didn't spend that much time together, it could be possible, but 4 YEARS??? Ugh...poor guy. He probably feels like a huge moran---you should give him a great big hug.

Re: My poor friend....

I think he was mad about ALL the lying...

think about it - she was still in high school when they met, and she led him to believe that she had already graduated and was in college.

He's been lending her money for years to help pay for school, and she HASN'T BEEN GOING TO COLLEGE AT ALL!!!

Then weed, I can't even imagine what he felt then. They weren't a drinking/smoking/social outing kinda couple.

It just kept building, and there was no trust left after this all came out. She GAVE him the ring back, he didn't have to ask.

The whole thing is just weird...

Here's another question......wouldn't they have gone out to celebrate her '21st' birthday???

Didn't her family ask how old he was?

Re: My poor friend....

yeah, they were together on and off for 4 years- didn't live together, and she didn't see him except for the weekends, 'cause he works full time and is a grad student at SBU.

They were 'saving for the wedding' since their 1 yr dating anniversary, so they rarely went out, and she doesn't carry a purse, just cash in a pocket. I never thought that was weird before, but it's all starting to make sense now...

all the strange pieces are coming together, and FH and I both feel like dummies for never picking up on the strangeness that was their relationship...

ANOTHER weird puzzle piece!! They were 'off again' at the time of her birthday - exactly one week before, until one week after.

Can't believe no one ever saw through her!

Re: My poor friend....

My jaw literally hit the floor when I heard this ...

this girl would make an AWESOME con artist.

eta: he's on the phone again! I'm seriously afraid that this guy is not so stable right now... FH is gonna drive over there and maybe stay w/ him tonight to calm him down.

Re: My poor friend....

Wow---so very weird. You guys shouldn't be the ones to feel like dummies......she played a good game apparently. She'll make an excellent con-man when she grows up.

So sorry you friend had to 'waste' the last four years of his life on this chick....that really *****. BUT, at least he found out who she really was NOW, and not 5 years down the line. What a mess. I hope he picks back up and moves on to a better and more trustworthy woman.

I would definitely tell him to get an ID check on whatever first dates he had from now on though.....

Sending hugs

HAH!! I apparently can't write the word S$cks on here......it comes up looking like *****..... hee hee hee ---sorry, late night giggles

Re: My poor friend....

she IS good!!!!

And jokingly, I said that ID check thing to him to try and lighten the mood - shouldn't have done that, I got a verrry dirty look.

He is such a nice guy too - someone I'd trust my little sister with (although I wouldn't subject him to her)...

I'm still a little shocked. He kept saying 'This is noooo not legal! I f***ed a 16 yr old when I was 21- that's considered rape!!!'

I KNOW, weird, right? $ucks is banned, but dicklips is OK. go figure...
I'm a little tipsy at the moment - I'm coming off a nice wine buzz. I know alllll about those late night giggles!! Nice teletubbies, BTW.

I'm headed to bed while I'm getting un-buzzed. I ALWAYS sleep so well when I've had a little wine! Fh went to Matt's apartment to check up on him.

G'night ladies!! I'll be sure to give Matt PLENTY of hugs - he totally deserves them.

Re: My poor friend....

Yeah--a wee bit illegal....but hey, we've all been there done that (it's always more acceptable when the guy is older though---strange.) I would have NEVER considered banging a 17 year old when I was 20, but it was fine for quite a few of my teenage boyfriends who were in their 20's.....So weird how this world is. Yuck!!

I LOOOOOVE my teletubbies!! Got hooked on them when I dated this guy about 7 years ago---he had three young kids who loved them...but I ended up watching the tapes more than they did...

Wish I had a few glasses of wine in me right now---I'm stuck at work.... Boring......

Re: My poor friend....

Shorty, how is your friend doing today? I hope he's all right.

Like the other girls said, it's terrible but better he find out now than after they are married!
