I took him in Monday and the doctor said he isnt doing well, his chest is tight and his lungs dont sound well.
Nebulizer every 4 hours
Then on Wednesday (today) he had a follow up and she seems even more concerned (getting scared now)
Nebulizer every 4 hours and if he doesnt do better they are going to put him on steroids again Last time that was HORRIBLE.
She said he has a reactive airway which is a type of asthma? I have to give him a treatment at midnight, again at 4 am and then at 8. He cant go to preschool for a regular day.
When is my baby going to stop having these problems?

Re: My poor son is on a nebulizer again
thank you - I believe you. I dont know if I trust them... theres been a few incidents where I was looking for another preschool anyway, like 2 black eyes, burns on his forehead... etc. I know hes a boy and hes adventurous but... I just dont feel as comfortable with them anymore.

Re: My poor son is on a nebulizer again
Its a pediatricians office? I go where theres a lot of doctors, but its hard dealing with just one. I want to though because half the times they dont even know him or his situation and It should all be written in the charts, I am there all the time. Last time I think they had him on too many meds because each doctor I saw would prescribe more. He was on Orapred, Xoponex, Pulmicort and Augmentin or Albuterol... I cant remember. My son started having seizure like symptoms and had to have an EEG.. Last night he got a bloody nose (I wonder if its from the nebulizer)
I dont know
I dont want to go back to work with him like this..

Re: My poor son is on a nebulizer again
thanks. I havent taken him to an allergist. I dont think they ever told me to. Its just weird because since he was a baby he seemed to cough more than others... Then we he was one for about a full year and a half hed have the most greusome bloody nose at least once a week? Then he just had typical colds.. Then in Novermber he had pneumonia (was sick about a month) Then February (Same thing) Now July - breathing problems.
Hes had a few nights in the past year where he wakes up and it seems he cant breathe at all. His eyes are big and he cant even cry - its like hes fighting to breathe and they tell me they think its croup. He also seems to drool a lot during these episodes. They told me to stick his head in a freezer.
It just all seems like a puzzle that someone should be able to put together, but I dont think my doctors work together!

Re: My poor son is on a nebulizer again
Dont you think it might get better once the humidity goes down a bit? My (8 year old) brother had an asthma attack yesterday. He told his camp leader that he needed his inhaler and he sat down for the rest of the day. Trust me this kid does not stop playing football or whatever for any reason ever no matter what. It had to be really bad for him to actually admit to himself that he wasnt feeling right.

Re: My poor son is on a nebulizer again
Im hoping. This is the first time Im dealing with this so I dont know, but I do know preschool and my house is air conditioned (I dont know if that matters) I just feel like hes been sick with all different things.... It just seems like too much. My mom says - none of you kids were ever sick like he is.
We went to the doctor yesterday and they did that pulse ox thing on his finger and it was 98, so thats good. The doctor said, 'even though 98 is good, he is fighting so hard to make it a 98. She said his lungs are working so hard and he takes fast shallow breaths.'
I dont know anything about medicine or anything, but thanks for the FMs because theyre helping.
I think I will see a different doctor. A practice with only 1 or 2 doctors so they can get to know my sweetie. I dont like him to be just ANOTHER kid who they never remember anything about.

Re: My poor son is on a nebulizer again
It sounds to me (and I am definately not a professional) that he should go to the allergist. They will give him the scratch test to see what he is allergic to, and may give him the shots. They really work wonders. I had similar conditions (with the waking up and not being able to breath) and I am allergic to sooo many things that I didn't even know! Now I get the shots and I was so much better.
Also, before I started the shots, I was constantly getting sinus infections and was always going to the ENT specialist, but now I don't get them. The allergist said that the infections were like allergic reactions.
Bringing him to the allergist can't hurt, I highly recommend it!
