My priest died :(

My priest died :(

I'm so upset the priest who was supposed to marry my FH and I passed away of lung cancer.. He was my dads cousin and he was so excited to marry us. Since my dad passed away when I was 17 I really liked the idea of our officiant having grown up with my dad truly knowing him and being able to say a little something in his remembrance during the mass. People have been pushing my to contact the Church and book another priest to do the ceremony but I just feel so bad like I'm replacing him but I guess I have to.

Not to mention this is like the 4th person on my guest list to die! Is this happening to anyone else?! I feel like my list is cursed :(

i am so sorry :( call the church when your ready. your not replacing him, you can never replace someone who was near and dear to you. maybe you can light a candle or say a prayer for your dad and your priest who passed. they both will still be with you in spirit!

i'm so sorry!!! don't worry about calling the church right now- call when you are ready.

I would say do a full mass or a memorial mass as part of your ceremony to honor him and your dad!

My priest died :(

Your dad and priest will be there in spirit. The year my brother got married our aunt passed and my future sister in law at the time her grandfather passed so there were two white roses on the altar and they went up and got them and gave one to her grandmother and one to my uncle in memory of them.
