I am waiting for the vet to open right now. I called the emergency clinic and they said to take him back to his vet as soon as they open.
We had him nutered yesterday. We picked him up at 4:00pm and the vet said to feed him b/c he didn't have food since 4pm the day before. He said to make sure not to feed him too much at a time otherwise he'll throw up.
Well, yesterday he wasn't interested in food at all. He just drank water. If he did eat anything, he threw up. Even after eating the tiniest amount.
He is still throwing up when he eats, which is not much b/c he has no appitite. He is very listless and not himself at all. He still looks woosy. I can't get intouch with our vet still and I am trying to get intouch with work to tell them that I'll be late. I also can't get intouch with my DH. I am going out of my mind! I'm too scared to leave him!

After we got Beemer one of her shots she woke up totally listless too and it was very scary. This is probably a side-effect of the anestisa (totally spelled wrong). Most humans get sick after being put under and having surgery, plus wake up no hungry and listless for a while. I would still bring him to the vet just to be on the safe side but I honestly think it is just normal for after surgery

What time does your vet open? I am sure he'll be fine, but he's your baby so I understand how you feel.

after max was neutered, he was the same way. didn't want to eat. barely drank anything. looked oh-so-pitiful and would wince everytime i tried to get him to move (the large e-collar wasn't helping matters either). i'm sure he is fine but a trip to the vet will put your mind at ease. keep us posted on your baby!

Try not to leave him if you dont have to. AA vet in Franklin square is open 24 hours.. give them a call ...

Michele is right. It may be the anesthesia. Let us know how he is doing. Does your vet have an emergency number if you need to reach him after office hours? You should ask them b/c my vet clinic does.

dont worry it is normal for dogs to vomit a day or so after neuter they are given medication and the medicine might be making him throw up

I took off from work the day after Arnie was neutered because he was so listless and wouldn't eat. I know how you feel.

our dog was recently dignosed with cancer but i remember how he gets every time he comes home from a surgery or anythign at the vety - he is listless and vomits - usually it goes away in a day or so...how is the puppy today??

He is back to his usual self! I dropped him off at the vet and they had them stay with them for the day. They gave him a shot to stop the vomiting and put him on IV for fluids. He is now acting like nothing ever happened. Thank you all for your support and advice!
pschica- I'm sorry to hear about your pup. How old is he?

That reaction must be the norm, because it's exactly what happened to Arnold! At death's door one day, and acting completely fine the next. Dogs ~ Gotta love 'em!
