I never write on these boards but am upset and hope other LI brides will understand....
I am 2 weeks from mailing invitations and just found out by visiting their website that my Reception Hall (RH) changed their name!!! They have my home and email address, work and cell # as well as my fiances- there is zero excuse for why they failed to notify me!
I called and spoke to a manager and she tried to tell me that it 'just happened'....things dont JUST happen, there was clearly a plan in place to change the name and nobody thought to contact the brides to be - or at least not this bride.
When I complained about the variance of the invites vs. the actual name of the RH she tried to tell me that they will put up signs to 'help' them find their way. Is this a garage sale or a wedding?!?! I am the furthest thing from a bridezilla but the claws are coming out.
I am totally freaking out right now...I think they should have to pay for new invitations and at minimum one free upgrade would make us about square...or at least that is what those close to me are saying. Considering the cash I am about to spend on this wedding I kind of agree. Am I asking for too much here?

So dont think you are wrong. If they wont pay for new invites they better at least upgrade you and give you an insert to put in your invite.

Yes, they need to provide an upgrade equal to value in your invitations and they still need to help notify your guests in some way (insert, or the signs - hopefully well done signs)

THis is terrible. I would definitely ask for an upgrade. If they don't give you an upgrade I would consider suing in small claims court for the cost of reprinting the invitations.

You are 300% right, thats just ridiculous. I would definitely keep your foot down and demand all those things that you want. Especially the fee for you invites!

I wouldn't re-do the invitations ... i would probably go to Vistaprint and print out business cards (you can get 250 free usually, just pay shipping) that say 'Please be advised that the reception hall has recently changed their name from ___ to ___. Sorry for the inconvinience'
but yeah, they should def give you a free upgrade of sorts to 'pay' for the stress they're putting you through!

can you have the invites changed/ I think that you mentioned that they were not sent out. You should have the RH pay for any cost changes. My Invite person lets me make a change.

Wow that is really unprofessional of them! They should pay for new invites or def give you something to insert with the invites stating about the name change! You have every right to be upset!

Changed their name without contacting you??? I bet they would have contacted you if a payment is due! Threaten to sue them in small claims if they cannot compensate in some way (either a monetary credit or upgrades) for the cost of new invitations. This is your wedding day! Like you said, not a garage sale for signs to be up! Terrible!
