My review of precana

My review of precana

For starters I was dreading this weekend! I didn't know what to expect. I am not a religious person & the thought of being in church all weekend kind of annoyed me.

The precana at our church was $160 so I wrote on LIW seeing if it was cheaper somewhere else. I got a response about a church in Bayshore that does it for $75. So i figured why not! I called, they mailed me a registration form & I picked the weekend we wanted & mailed in the check. So the hours were Saturday 8:30-4:30 & Sunday 8:30 & we can leave after the 11:30 mass.

We show up Saturday morning to a full spread of bacon, eggs, french toast, rolls, coffee, juice ect. AMAZING to say the least! We received a book & folder with everything we were doing for the weekend. After breakfast we all met up downstairs from the church in a group. We were 31 couples. The weekend was basically a married couple speaking about a particular subject. Then FH & I would seperately fill out a series of questions on the topic & then come together to go over our answers. LoL this was hysterical. The things he wrote were just too funny. Then we would meet up in 3 groups of about 10 couples and we would discuss the topic. Our group leaders were a younger couple about 35 yrs old with 2 kids. we talked about life, love, children, finances, & obstacles to say a few. We sat in a circle & would go around the room answering particular questions. Then we would go back in the other room with the large group & start another topic.

Lunch was great too! They offered us platters of wraps & sandwiches & a bunch of different salads! The following day for breakfast we got rolls & bagels with a bunch of spreads!

It was basically the same routine again. On Sunday we went over a topic, went to mass, and then stayed after to receive our certificates. They made it like a mini graduation it was so cute!

The bottom line is this was not at all what I expected precana to be. I had a really great time. They were regular people talking about regular things that come up in a married relationship. FH didn't like that we all had to speak in the circle but I was okay with it. I am so glad we went to this. It had nothing to do with religion & the deacon who was in charge of it was such a funny guy & shed light on the fact that we had to spend out weekend there! Everyone was so sweet. It was actually kinda fun! The worst part was being there for 8 hours but I honestly could not complain about anything else. So don't at all be worried that this is going to suck! It was a really good thing. I would highly recommend this place for precana! :o)

Deacon Frank was in charge & our group leaders were Rob & Mary :o)

Re: My review of precana

glad you had such a nice experience! Although FH and I will be getting married in the church I grew up attending, St. Pat's will be our home church since we both live in the area. I'm glad you had a positive experience!

Awesome sounds like a lot of fun!! And a lot of yummy food - bonus!!

St Pat's is a great parish, my aunt used to teach at the grammar school there.

I'm looking forward to Pre-Cana but it probably won't be until the fall.
