My Review on Kamila / B-pics

Original post by mariedsgn

I am writing this because a bunch of people have FMed me about my post. I am in no way trying to start drama. I have been thinking about this for a long time. The more I think about it, I feel that I should just be honest. People are paying a lot of money for these pictures and should know how I felt about my experience.

I did a group session in the nyc, with a some liw girls. It was a lot of fun to hang out with the liw girls. I was the second girl to go in our group. I was really nervous. I feel that Kamila gave almost no direction. I would do a pose and then she would take some photos and said you can change - I had asked her if they looked good or if there was a way to hide my stomach or should I move more etc. and she just answered that I was doing fine. After a few outfit changes she showed me some of the photos on her camera and I got scared because out of 20 pictures I liked one maybe. . . . I asked her more questions about the poses and she just said you are doing fine - the photo shoot was done in 30- 35 minutes with 5 outfit changes. I felt rushed and almost like she did not want to be their. She was very nice but super shy which made me feel uncomfortable.

So she told us that we would get the photos in 3 weeks and maybe teasers - No teasers and it took her 4 weeks to get the photos to us.

When I looked through them, I don't think they came out as bad as I thought they were going to - I even posted some. Some photos were awful – my face looks like a man – I have never seen that angle and I never want to see it again

When I took time to pick photos for the album - out of the 105 photos I received, I liked 12, and love 1 photo BUT most of them are the same pose and outfit that I liked.

I emailed her and asked if I get any money back if I don't get an album and I explained that I don't want an album with the same pose with the same outfit in it 5 different times.

And she responded “hummmm what about a bigger album 8.5 x 11 with less photos – maybe 10?” I still have not responded - this was 2 months ago. I took my photos in January. . . I am just annoyed and I hate looking at my photos it feels like a job.

I spent so much money, and I have nothing to show for it. I had actually met with 2 other B-pic photographers and they felt bad after seeing my photos and offered me great deals to take my photos. I don’t even think I want to re-take them. I feel like I should get my FH something that I know he wants instead of spending more money on something that may not come out good.

I have seen some GREAT photos from her - I don't want to scare you. It was my experience and I feel like it needed to but shared.

First I'm so sorry you spent all that $$ and don't like your pics -but remember you are definitely your own worst critic. That being said, I'm glad you posted this review - I've been going back and forth on doing bpics and one of my fears is that b/c I know I'll be really shy in that situation, the pictures won't come out well at all - so I'd definitely need a photographer to give me direction. Thanks for the info.

Re: My Review on Kamila / B-pics

I took B pics with Kamila last April before my wedding and honestly I felt the same way. I felt rushed and tried my best to make the most of the money I paid with little or no direction from Kamila. I felt that she gave more direction to girls that were trying to hide certain areas of their bodies and take pics from more interesting angles. I was pretty much in shape so I felt that she didnt try to do anything 'interesting' for me personally.

I didnt really LOVE any of the pics she took, none of them were wow.

MARIE!! i had no idea you felt that way! I'm sorry about that!

I hope that she does work something out with you, whether its giving you a larger album with less pages (i.e. less pictures) for the same price that you already paid,

or some money back and no album, she should help you out either way!!!

and i feel so bad that you don't like your pictures :(

and I agree with Jayne...i never expected to love all 112 pictures she took of me...its really not possible...

but to only LOVE 1, and kinda like 10 is really nothing

of the 25 pics i chose for my album, i really LOVE probably 7-10 of them, REALLY LIKE another 10 of them probably, and just like the rest

as far as Janis' concern about the time of day, that is definitely something I see as being true, depending on your preference, because the lighting completely changes the pictures you are taking.

while i am more satisfied with my pictures that you are, I do agree that the direction from her was lacking. but then again, ive never done a photo shoot, so i have no idea if there should be tons of direction or not.

but please let me know what happens, and what you decide!!! im interested to see how she handles your situation! i hope you end up happy!!

Re: My Review on Kamila / B-pics

Typically 'most' photographers don't direct you how to stand and position yourself. This is something that I agree, she should kind of mention when your thinking about using her.
But, it's hard to know how to position yourself in the most flatering poses if you don't see what you look like right away. Most people don't know what postures their body feels most comfortable in and it's going to come across in the pictures unfortunately. This isn't something that the photographer worries about 'all the time'.

Perhaps in the future she (or any bpic photographer) could have a laptop set up and upload 1 or 2 shots in the beginning as test shots for you and for her.
My only other suggestion for girls who haven't done bpics yet but want to is to practice. In your room, put on your outfits and just practice and see what positions feel comfortable for you. And remember to breath. We tend to hold our breath when we take pics and it makes all of us look awkward. If there is a pose you want to do just do it. No good photographer is going to tell you no unless the outcome isn't flattering.

HTH anyone.

I think it's great that you posted how you felt with your session. That's the point of this website. We need the good with the bad.
If it were me, I'd choose the large album with less pictures.

thank you for posting this! This is something I will keep in mind, I am scheduled for b-pics in a few weeks w. Jenerations..I def don't think I'd look flattering in 1/2 the pics but hope she can focus on certain angles that will flatter me (see my e-pics album, I'm def not a size 6 gal!)..so yea I really plan to practice posing in front of a mirror now!

Re: My Review on Kamila / B-pics

I am so sorry you had a bad experience with Kamila. I did a LIW group bpic session with her as well.

In our session, I was the last girl to go and the energy was definitely drained out of us at that point. However, I felt that Kamila gave me great direction. She would do the pose for me first, and then I'd copy it. If I didn't look right, she'd tell me to move my arm, or move to the right/left a little. So, even though I was the last one to go, I still got plenty of direction. And I was very happy with my pictures. Not every picture was great, of course, but I was happy with the majority of them.

That being said, I noticed that she did edit everyone in the group's pictures differently. For example, she did some of my pictures with a yellowish lightening in editing, whereas she did Chris' with a bluish tint. So, not all the girls get the same things.

Overall, I was very happy with her and my experience. But, I think it is good to hear more than one point of view.

Re: My Review on Kamila / B-pics

I felt the same way about my pictures. First off, I HATED my make up. I felt I looked like a man as well and it wasn’t very flattering in most pictures. We went to her studio and I was disappointed with the lay out. It was small and not very versatile. She gave us some direction. She would imitate a pose for us to go in but it was the same like 3 poses in each area of her studio.
DH knew I was doing these pics so I let him choose the pics for the album and he had the same feedback. He said all the pictures looked the same and he felt like he was choosing the same pic over and over. I had to choose 20 pictures and it was hard. I think I LOVED maybe 2 or 3.
I had also contacted other photographers but I cant justify spending another few hundred dollars.
Like you said, I have seen some gorgeous pics posted on here so I wouldn’t say she is all bad. I just wouldn’t book her again and I wouldn’t push people to book with her

Thank you for sharing. I thought the pictures you posted looked awesome, but it's so frustrating when you don't like something you paid so much money for.

FH would LOVE bpics, and I'm thinking of doing them as a first anniversary gift, but I would need TONS of direction, and I wouldn't like someone who couldn't do that. So, thanks for posting!

Re: My Review on Kamila / B-pics

I feel EXACTLY the same way you do. I like maybe 8 of my pictures and any others make me want to either go on a hunger strike or have some serious work done on my face. I took my pics back in February and still haven't sent her my picture choices. I know that they're supposed to be the 'real me' but her editing skills kinda stink... There are shadows across my face and serious bags under my eyes I feel that that should have been taken care of... When I look at my e-pics they took care of all of that. She charges A LOT of $$$ and I don't feel I got my $$$'s worth.

I give you a ton of credit for being honest.. Im sorry to hear about your experience though. I hope that maybe you can do a re do or something.. possibly get something back?

Re: My Review on Kamila / B-pics

Wow!! I am happy that I am not the only one. I totally don't feel like I got my $$ worth either. I don't think the lighting was good in any of my photos.

I am in love with our engagement photos out of the 105 engagement photos we received - we don't like 1 - that is right 1 photo out of all of them. Our wedding/e-pic photographer gave us direction, but not in a posing manner - all of our photos look natural.

I guess I just expected more from a photographer.

Re: My Review on Kamila / B-pics

First Marie, you are a gorgeous girl and I don't think you could ever look like a man! And kudos for being honest but still respectful!

I didn't do my bpics with her, but the photographer I choose was the same amount of money you paid and I was there for 4 hours. When you are in an uncomfortable situation, the photographer needs to make you feel at ease. And they should suggest different poses and change up the scenes. In the end, you are paying for their services and you need to be happy with the end result. I hope she can issue some sort of refund to you.

Re: My Review on Kamila / B-pics

I am so sorry Marie, and yay for having the strength to be honest!!!!

I used jenerations and she gave a ton of direction on how to pose, etc., which i thought was the norm. i don't know what i would have done without direction bc i'm just so awkward!!! lol. i hope you find a happy resolution to this.
