I just got back from looking at my sample centerpiece with Barbara from Flower Michele. I have to be honest, while I have heard soooo many great reviews on them, I wasn't very happy.
I am having blue hydrangeas, lavender roses, lisianthus (a white delicate looking flower) and irises.
The roses that were in the sample were hot pink, not lavender. I told her, and she pulled a rose from another centerpiece which WAS lavender and stuck it in (it specifically says lavender roses on my contract)
When we were making up the contract I said that I wanted a large fishbowl, and the one she had the sample in wasn't very large. She said she could write not to have it be so tight to give the illusion that it's bigger, but I don't want an illusion, I want bigger!
Also, I don't know if I want the irises in there. My girls dresses are periwinkle, and I think the dark purple is a nice accent, I don't think that I am going to like the yellow (I couldn't tell tonight because it was too cold in there so they weren't open.)
I don't know what to do. My wedding is a little less then 3 months away, and I am also planning my daughters communion which is less then two months away. I don't want to stress, but I don't want flowers that I don't like!
Suggestions please! Should I call and talk to her? Should I email her? Should I see if I can get another centerpiece made? (will they do that?) I was looking forward to this all day and when I saw it, all the excitement left me in 2 seconds. I said it was okay, she made her suggestions, and I left. I was so disappointed I didn't even take pictures!
What do I do ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ?

Re: My sample centerpiece from Flower Michele
since there are so many things you don't like, I'd ask for a second sample... even if you'd have to pay for it. Make sure the lavendar roses are there, try it w/o the irises, and see the bigger bowl.
you don't want to be disappointed on the big day when there are over a dozen of these scattered about costing $$$$$....

I would let her know your concerns and def see another centerpiece. I am sure they want you to be happy. Do you have a picture for them to use as a reference?

definitely don't settle for something you don't like. I think the flowers are a really important part of the wedding. If your girls are wearing periwinkle, then why don't you try peach roses instead of the irises...the peach is much softer than yellow, yet compliments the hydrangeas...instead of irises, what about delphinium (there's a dark blue or baby blue)...I'd ask them to do another sample if I were you, if you're still not happy and you're not locked into a contract, look elsewhere...there are so many talented florists

yes definitely tell her...This is the point of doing samples ahead of time, to see what you like and don't like and if theres anything you want to change then you can do that, you have every right to do it and shouldn't feel bad.

Re: My sample centerpiece from Flower Michele
I just talked to my mom, and now I am sitting here in tears I am realizing, that the only thing I liked about it was the hydrangeas and the lisianthus. I am going to wait till my daughter goes to bed and then email her and see what she says.
In all seriousness, I am not a bridezilla, I have actually been suprisingly cool throughout a lot of things so far (my BP agrees!) yet this is hitting me so hard.
ETA: Thanks girls

Re: My sample centerpiece from Flower Michele
You sound like you have been very cool, as much as you don't want to, you should just call her and tell her that you didn't love it. You are spending a lot of money and you should get what you want. Do not settle because you don't want to hurt someones feelings. I have seen their work and it is beautiful so, just let them know and I am sure it will work out.

Re: My sample centerpiece from Flower Michele
You have so much time! My wedding is in 37 days and I am only going to see my sample for the first time Next Saturday! It's really NOT a big deal. I would ask for a second sample but I would wait a month or so and If you can find some pictures of what you like give them some pics to base your sample off of.
You can also go out and purchase your own fishbowls if what they have is not to your liking - they should be able to reduce the price if you bring in your own stuff.
Don't stress it. Flower Michelle is great. They will hook you up. No worries - plan your daughters event and then get back to your flowers!
Good luck!

Re: My sample centerpiece from Flower Michele
Hi there! - I booked Flower Michele as well and I went for my first sample centerpiece in January. FH and I got there and we weren't that crazy about our first sample either (pics are in my album with the BM dress). I asked for a second sample to see the changes I recommended they make. I just went to see my second sample last weekend (pics in my album for that too) It was more of what I wanted, but to me - still a little off. If you are not happy about it then definitely ask for a second sample. I did not have to pay for it and he was very willing to accomodate. HTH!!

You should definetly say something to her and get a second sample centerpiece made. There is no way that you should have to settle for something that you don't like.

Re: My sample centerpiece from Flower Michele
Okay, so I signed back on here after watching 'Survivor' with my daughter and had an FM from John! Someone apparently showed him my post he said and he told me to definatly call and make another appointment to go in and talk and have a 2nd centerpiece made!
thanks girls for all your advice. Crisis averted. I am going to make another appointment tomorrow.
Off to FM John back and start to print directions for my daughter communion invitations ! !
