My Shower was yesterday!!!!
Let me say first of all, I have no pics yet!
As people were taking pictures I asked 'is anyone using a digital camera?' because I thought what am I going to tell the LIW ladies?????
I'm going to Florida tomorrow and when I get back I'll post scanned pics that I get from my family.
My shower was at Anna Maria's in Kings Park. There were 43 people there and we fit just perfectly. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves from 12-5. I highly recommend Anna Maria's to anyone looking for a shower or RD location; the food was delicious and the staff was soooo attentive! And it's very family-oriented, meaning my 2 year old cousin could shout 'I have a poopy diaper!' and no one would look at us like we were heathens!
OK, I knew about my shower beforehand so I wasn't surprised, but knowing about it didn't take away from the joy of the day one bit. I am still overwhelmed by how my BM's went out of their way to make it a lovely day for me. I feel so grateful for everything and so lucky to have such wonderful friends!
The 'theme' for my wedding, if there is one, is blue hydrangea. There were gorgeous blue hydrangea centerpices in glass bowls as c-pieces. The flowers came from Bayport Flower House and my brother
cut the flowers and arranged them in the vases. My wedding invitation and shower invitation were framed and placed on the banister near my giant wicker chair. (Yes, there was a chair, wishing well, and umbrella, all in the white lace, and although I usually hate that stuff, it was so cliche that I just went with the flow and came to love it! I felt very bridal!
)
One of my BMs made me the cutest gifts of something old, new, borrowed, and blue. For something old, she got me 'the Good Housekeeping Blender Cookbook' from the year me and my FHwere bron - 1971. She wrote a very touching thing inside. It was so cute, the whole little set.
All the BMs chipped in to get me all the All-Clad and Le Creuset I registered for. My mom got me a hope chest and my FMIL got me all the blankets and comforter and sheets I regitered for to fill the chest up. I got a TON of gifts, I was told to add more to my registry in case anyone wants to buy wedding gifts from it. I have no idea what to do with everything. Nice problem to have, huh?
The wishing well had a 'photography' theme, a hobby of mine that I wish I had more time for. So I got lots of nice frames, a red-eye pen, a paper cutter, film, etc. It was a really cool wishing well!
The BEST surpirse came from our WC0143 - Wendy - who sent me my FAVORITE gift of all - a SNOOPY umbrella! Where's the damn hurricane when I need to show off my umbrella!!!!!
But that's not all - I once embarrassingly admitted to Wendy that when I was little I had a crush on Bugs Bunny (yes, an animal - a cartoon animal; There's one for the couch). So Wendy also sent me two gorgeous Pottery Barn frames and in one put a pic of Bugs and wrote on it 'Now all we can do is dream of what could have been... Love, Bugs'
I was cracking up!!!! OMG it was the best gift!!!
I had a great day. I was nervous as all heck, but it was just fantastic. Pics to come at the end of the week.
