Mine was also on Sunday! At Cafe Bella on Franklin Avenue in Valley Stream (it may actually still be Franklin Square). Unfortunately, I was not surprised, but that's a tradition that not everyone is aware of. I'd figured it out end of July and was disappointed to have known (as I wasn't trying), but since then, 3 different friends mentioned that they'd see me in a few weeks at my shower. The card didn't say 'surprise' b/c my family thought everyone knows that. Not so...
It was lovely; a bit rushed, as I had to scram into NYC to do a final Fringe Festival show (my mother said that she was having a 'heart attack' b/c of it - God forbid.) Whattaya gonna do?
I got almost everything on my registries and some lovely things not on them - hand painted long-stem wine glasses and decanter; Lenox candle holders... I too have the 'problem' of not knowing where to put it all. I know that one person had a digital camera so once I get those pix, I'll post. You ladies are loverly. Congrats, Jennifer, on your special day. I'm so glad you were suprised. Kudos to your family for pulling that one off!
