My Shower with pictures
The 2008 Board is dwindling down, so I figured I'd post this on the 2009 Board as well (since I am ALMOST a 2009 bride ![]()

My Bridal Shower was this weekend and it was amazing. It was thrown at Oriental Plaza Restaurant in Staten Island by my Mom, Future Sister-in-Law and Best Friend. They did an amazing job. Anyone who knows me knows that it is REALLY hard to surprise me. Even though I figured out a lot of things about my “surprise” shower (like the location and day) they still managed to get me with some special guests! My Sister and Grandma (both live in Florida)were a surprise - so of course when I walked in and saw my Sister I lost it -and then once I stopped crying I saw my Grandma and lost it a second time! It was very emotional and overwhelming!

The restaurant is one of my favorites and the room upstairs was set up really nice. I had between 50 and 60 guests! The decorations were awesome - My FH’s Aunt made sunflower centerpieces with matching edible chocolate lollipops that looked like sunflowers to match. The favors were decorated take out boxes filled with candy and I had a really cute shower chair to sit in while opening gifts!
The food was delicious. First everyone was served soup, then an appetizer dish which had an eggroll, shrimp toast and chicken teriyaki and then the main course was a variety of dishes served family style. The food was delicious and I drank A LOT
Before gifts started my Mom gave a nice speech which made me cry again for the third time. She even had our guests in tears because her speech was THAT good! It was also concluded that my Mom is a Governor Sarah Palin look-a-like!![]()
Everyone played Bingo while I opened gifts. We got just about everything we registered for - except for that damn crock pot!![]()
Some of the big gifts we got were our every dishes, our casual china from Crate & Barrel, all of our flatware and serving pieces, the Dyson, the Bissell carpet steamer and a set of Rachel Ray pots - we pretty much got everything! My Future Mother-in-Law made us baskets for the seasons/holidays and they were gorgeous. We got a Honeymoon basket from my bridesmaids with all goodies inside (some naughty too!) We also got a “his and her” lingerie basket that my Future-Sister-in-Law put together which was incredible - all the lingerie was on a clothesline! My Mom and Sister got us an assortment of gifts - towels, sheets and cosmetics just to name a few. At the end of gifts my Mom and Future Sister-in-Law brought out a laundry basket full of household items that went along with a poem that named all of the products inside which was also very cute.
I even got a “PIMP CUP” from my bridesmaids - it was inside one of the baskets so I didn’t get to open it up at the shower - It has zebra stripes and feathers! I am being total trash and bringing it to the wedding!![]()
My FH = AMAZING. One of my last presents to open was a surprise gift from him. He surprised me with a gorgeous gift - a Louis Vuitton bag! I was shocked and of course VERY happy! He is so thoughtful and he always gets me AMAZING surprises.
The cake was delicious - it was a banana cake - my FAVORITE - and it was from Cake Chef in Staten Island.
The day was great. At first it didn’t even feel like it was my party. While we were eating I kept looking around and I couldn’t believe that it was all for me. My friends are great and I love them. My Future-Sister-in-Law/Matron of Honor did so much for me - she really took the lead in planning and organizing. My Best Friend is the sweetest and she helped my Future Sister-in-Law plan an amazing shower. My sister was great and took pictures the entire day. Now I have over 100 pictures to help me remember the day. My Mom is the best at surprising me - probably the only one who can really get something past me! She surprised me with my Sister and Grandma, she wrote an amazing speech, and even though she was far away she helped the girls plan the best shower ever! I can’t leave out my friend Tee either, she was there for me the entire day helping out and it meant so much to me. I went home and cried thinking about what great friends and family I have. My Mom, my FMIL, my Sister, my FSIL, my dynamic duo Justine and Tee and of course my FH -I love them - I loved my shower, it was amazing!
