My sister's wedding reception was at the Marina Del Rey this past Sunday and it was Amazing!!!!
I know there are two ladies on here whose weddings are coming up soon and all I can say is ' I wish I was going'. They did an amazing job. Let me start by saying that this was a big Italian wedding and food was a very important factor, as with all weddings. From the moment we arrived at the Marina it was an amazing experience. As soon as we arrived, I went straight to the bridal suite to drop off my 2 year old's belonging and then headed outside for photos. Her cocktail hour was from 5:00-6:30 and we arrived at the Marina around 4:15. Guest were arriving too and were able to get cold beverages and cookies and take them outside and relax before they were escorted into the cocktail hour, which was unbelievable. I did not go into the cocktail hour but everyone who was there raved about how much food there was and how amazing the food was. The sushi, clams on the half shell, stuff fillet of sole, Fried Calamari, Roasted Pig, everything was just delicious. My cousin said they never ran out of anything and it seemed like they just kept adding more things.
In the bridal suite, they served us about 8 different things. However, they asked us if we wanted anything in particular from the main cocktail room to be brought in, and they gave us anything to drink that we wanted and kept it coming. My sister's bridal attendant Jodie was awesome. We knew her from Gowns By Louise were we purchased the bridemaid dresses and she was so helpful. She helped me bustle my sister's dress and was on top of every detail. She not only treated my sister and her husband like royalty but was great to everyone in the suite.
On to the main reception. Again amazing. The food, the atmosphere, the service was impeccable. My two year old (who was the flower girl) poured her soda into her pasta and it was cleaned up quicker than anything I have ever seen and no one at the table even realized. Someone on the dance floor dropped a beer bottle and it was cleaned up so quickly no one missed a beat. My sister was so impressed with them. It seemed like there were tons of waiters and waitresses but yet they weren't in the way. It is like they appeared out of no where. All I can say is they really know how to work a wedding. There was never a line at the bar. As for the main course, unbelievable. I had the chateau Briand and it was delish. They also brought out two extra dishes for anyone who wanted to try something else. They also were going around with broccoli Rabe, which was excellent. If you like broccoli Rabe, you know that you either know how to make it or you don't. Well the Marina makes one of the best versions I have ever had.
On to the Viennese hour which was held outside. All the pastries and cakes come from Sal and Dom's on Allerton Avenue. One of the best bakeries in the Bronx. I grew up on Arthur Avenue surrounded by pastry shops and they are great, but I have to say I love Sal and Dom's. There was so much at the Viennese hour from the chocolate fountain to the ice cream everything was just great. There was a guy walking around with Zeppoles and they put out take home containers so people could take anything they wanted home with them. Even with everyone packing up trays to go, there still was ton of stuff left over, which all went home with my sister.
The atmosphere at the Marina is unbelievable. We were able to go outside on the patio and have a drink or a cup of coffee and the view is breathtaking. It was such a tranquil scenery and everyone loved that they could party hard inside and them come outside to relax for a few and still see the bash going on inside.
I made monogram water bottles for my sister and the Marina put them in large ice buckets and assigned an attendant to stand there at the end of the night and say 'Would you like a bottled water for your ride home compliments of our bride and groom'. Everyone loved it.
As soon as I get pictures I will post them.
Again, to the two ladies whose weddings are soon, you get what you pay for and have chosen an excellent hall. Congratulations and good luck to all the brides to be.

Re: My sister's amazing Wedding at the Marina Del Rey
Thanks. Any one having a wedding there has nothing to worry about. You don't see much posted about the Marina since it s in the Bronx. My sister was not worried at all since her sister-in-law's wedding was there a few years ago and they knew from that moment that they wanted to get married there.
My sister dropped off tons of stuff two days before, and everything was handled perfectly. It will be great. Enjoy.
