My something OLD ~ I could CRY right now

I just got off the phone with my cousin and she say's 'I just wanted to ask you do you already have your something old or your something borrowed' I told her that I just got my something borrowed today, a friend is lending me her crystal tiara, (I'll post pics later) but I was still working on my something old. She told me that when she got married our Grandma gave her this little angel pin and pinned it under her dress for good luck. She asked me if I would like to have it as my something old. I couldn't help but cry, we were all very very close to my Grandma. She had a stoke and was in and out of the hopital for over a year before she died, that's how FH and I met. I would go see her just about everyday and him and I became good friends. I was thrilled that she asked me but I still felt sad, just missing her a bunch, but I know she is super happy for us.

awww

that is so beautiful - your Grandma most certainly would've wanted you to have it.

My Grandma gave me my something old just recently, too. She found the hankie that she used on the day of HER wedding, 49 years ago. Sooo sweet. I'm taking it to an EmbroidMe shop and having them embroider (in pale blue thread)

D.F. & R.J.
8~2~58

in one corner, with

N.J. & R.M.
11~23~07

right next to it....

then I plan to pass it to my sister, who plans to embroider it and pass it down to my cousins. There are 9 of us in total.

OMG!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!!!!!!! I had a similar situation w/my nanny. I have a few things that she gave me when she started to get sick and I came across her rosary the other day. It was broken a few yrs. back by one of my kids but I decided to wrap my bouquet w/it. I couldn't help but cry thinking about how much I wanted her there. Just know your grandma will be there. Your cousin rocks!!!!!

Re: My something OLD ~ I could CRY right now

that is so great..... now THAT is a good 'something old'.... something that links you to the previous generations of women in your family

I wore the strand of pearls that mom bought for her own wedding as 'something borrowed' and my Oma's ring (which I inherited when she passed away) as 'something old'.... it was great to be able to encorporate them into my wedding outfit.
