My something old & something blue

My mom and I were talking this weekend and I told her how I might borrower my FSIL's veil. So my mom asked me how traditional I wanted to be and if I was going to do the whole something old, something new etc. I said if it works out that I have something for everything. She then got all misty eyed and told me how on her wedding day her grandmother gave her a handkerchief that she wore. My mom gave it to my sister to wear on her wedding day. She told me that she would like me to wear it on my day. so then I got all emotional! I thought about it and suggested that as long as she was okay doing to embroider her grandmothers initials, her initials, my sisters and then mine in blue thread. She loved the idea. So now I will have my something old and something blue

Anyone else doing this???

that is great...to pass it down...i have things like that to use....I love the idea of using the same things..like for instance..both fh and i have our christening gowns that we plan on having our son and daughter (God willing) wear at there baptism one day. i am all about things like that...in fact..that is why we chose our wedding date... My great grandparents were married on february 20, 1927!

That is fantastic!! I got a little teary...its so sentimental.....

I am doing the something old, new, borrowed and blue. The new and the borrowed are my next things to fine. My mom gave me my something old - similar situation to you - he hankerchef and her necklace. I cried when she gave it to me. My friend went to the vatacan last year and bought me my something blue - she got blue rosery beads and blessed them when she was there. That was nice too and also sentimental :)
