My son has a LITHP !!! LOL

Lately he's been 'improving upon' how he pronounces certain words..
He seems to have a lisp, but it sounds soo cute

For 'Darts' (he plays with daddy) He used to just say DAWH DAWH DAWH
Now he says DAW-THSTHTHS (sounds like DARTS with a strong ending )
For 'Light' He'd look up and say 'Ligh' (no T ) Now he says 'Ligh THSTHS' (sounds like LIGHTS )

He does this with quite a few words, its too funny
I hope this lisp is just a stepping stone in speech development!

Some children start out having difficulty with certain words. If it continues, its something that he correct.

He must sound soooo cute!!!!

I'm pretty sure it's developmental and he'll self correct, but I'm going to check with my sister, just in case.

How cute is that?????? I wouldn't worry though because my niece did the same thing, but outgrew it!!!

I can't wait to hear JA talk!!!

I think it probably has to do with how many teeth he has. Alot of sounds are made with the tongue against the teeth. There are lots of gaps between the teeth that are there at this age so some sounds come out funny. I wouldnt give it a worry.

Luke has one word that he says so funny - socks. it sounds like STHocks He sounds like Sylvester the cat when he says Suffering succotash' LOL

so cute!!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much...the biggest percentage of special ed services for kindergarteners is speech...its common...and common to grow out...if by school he still has it...or a year before...you can request a CSE (committee on Spec ED) meeting (or PCSE - for pre-school) and discuss your concern...

Liz, how cute about Lukie

Im sure JA's little lisp is nothing major. I think he's just trying out new sounds and making bigger words and trying to repeat exactly to the tee.
The amount of words he does say, and how well he says them (if I may toot his little horn ) has me convinced that he's actually a little advanced in the speech department

Funny one: He says MEOW when he sees a doggy

For how much of a 'bad boy' he can be at times (biting, hitting ) Ive actually been quite impressed at how well he listens to 'Give the book to mommy' or 'bring this diaper to daddy'. He does it right away. I totally expected him to run the other way and not do it. He's so proud to give me something, even if he was about to chew on it

Liz-it seems like they were just BORN and now they are little people !!!!!! He shocks me more and more every day!
