My Step by Step DIY Aisle Runner

The aisle runner I used is from AC Moore. It’s called floral lace, and it’s like a dryer sheet material (NOT the vinyl one) with a pretty design on it. I think I got it on sale for $15.

The only other material I used was a thin and broad Sharpie and ruler.

1) Agree with FH on a quote :- )
2) In MS Word print the quote in a huge font (I think I used 350 size). When a word runs onto the next page, I print the letter that overlaps twice, this way you can really align it well. For example, Jennifer ran onto 2 pages in size 350 font. So I wrote Jenniffer and then made sure that my 2 f’s overlapped when I taped the pages together.
3) Decide where you want your words to fall on the runner and measure out the appropriate length. I cut my 100’ runner down to 75’ and started my words 10’ from the altar. My quote takes up ~18 feet and then I left another few feet before I put our names and the date.
4) I used my kitchen and dining room floor and taped the printed up words to the ceramic tile, using the grout lines as a straight edge and indicator of our spacing. This was the hardest part. I had it all laid out and then realized that I didn’t measure between each line and it was all off. I had to redo. Make sure you’re taking that into consideration, as well as the width of the runner and where it should be centered. It was a lot of math.
5) Once my words were positioned I rolled the runner out and got my fine tip Sharpie and began to outline.
6) I was going to paint the words but decided against it once I saw how well the Sharpie actually worked.
7) I put the runner with the outlined words on the kitchen counter (with paper under it so it wouldn’t bleed through) and filled in the words.
8) I took an accent color and shadowed our names and the date.
9) Voila!

Good luck ladies
