My 'strange' day!

My 'strange' day!

The strangest thing happened to me today. I got an email from a woman on one of my scrapping lists...asking where in Holbrook I lived. (I sign my posts to the group - Lisa from Holbrook, no last name or anything else) I told her the 2 cross streets. she emailed me back and told me the number of the house she grew up in and wanted to know who we bought from that she might know the people. Well the house number she posted was OURS!!!! OMG...can you imagine my surprise to meet up with a woman that grew up in my house!!

I was so excited I gave her my phone number and asked her to call me at work! We chatted for 30 mins. It was great to ask her about stuff in the house and the neighborhood!! She was decribing to me the way the house used to look and I was amazed how much didnt really change!! I told her that anytime she was in the area to feel free to stop in and see the house.

The other thing that was AMAZING is that she mentioned that a friend of hers went to the store in Miller Place on Sunday to scrap and that it took her a long time to get there. I asked her what the womans name was....she told me Nory. I cant believe that Nory on here knows this woman!! It is a crazy world!!

Just had to share my strange but wonderful connection!!

the most ironic part of the story is that I knew her as her maiden name...we have mutual friends!!

Re: My 'strange' day!

WOW!!! I love getting reminded what a small world it is....

I had a childhood friend that moved to Brazil (where they were from) with her family when I was in 4th grade. Her and I were literally sisters we were so close...we even talked about how one day she would marry my brother

Well, one day at work I saw her name light up on my phone (mind you, this was a total coincedence b/c she actually dialed the wrong extension and got me) and all day I sat around wondering what the chances were that it was this same girl working at my company....(it was a common last name)

Anyway - I looked her up in the company directory and e-mailed her on the off chance that it was and IT WAS!!!!!!!!!!

Hadn't seen her since the 4th grade and here she was.....

What amazing things happen....

We now remain close friends!

Edited to make sense

Re: My 'strange' day!

does any feel that the 'WEB' has brought the world closer to them? it seems that the world is much smaller. We can send pictures and images around the world in a matter of seconds, find lost loves/friends with a couple of key strokes and keep in touch with them witha few more!!

I never would have connected with this woman that grew up in my house with out the internet!!

Absolutely! Merf99 and Jan05Bride can agree with me on that one.

Re: My 'strange' day!

That's a great story...here's mine:

So my mom and her best friend (for like 30 years) go out to dinner and a movie every now and then. They get to talking...her friend asked how her meeting went with FH's parents. (She knew the my FH's parents were coming in from Florida to meet my parents). So, my mom tells her everything went well...and proceeds to repeat a story about FH's grandmother that was told during out meeting. Anyway...my mom's friend says...my husband has an aunt just like that (85 years old...refuses to give up her job..works everyday, yada, yada, yada). Long story short....(TOO LATE)...turns out my mom's friend's husband....and FH's grandma...is the same lady!!! So....after the wedding....my mom and her best friend will finally be 'family' after 30 years!
