My Target Experience - EDITED WITH RESPONCE

LOOK DOWN!!!

I wrote this to the people at Target.com

Am I wrong???

I was wondering if you hired rude people. Every experience I have had at Target since this one opened was pleasent until this past Friday, Nov 14th around 1pm. I was paying for my items. The cashier was obviously not very happy for some reason. She told me my total. I handed her my money which she took while looking at me with a nasty look. She said Have A Nice Day there was attitude in her voice. I did not respond because I was busy putting my change away. As I was zipping up my purse she said 'Gee thank you', implying I was being rude for not telling Ms. Attitude to have a nice day as well. Mind you I was in a rush, not finding what I was looking for so I was generally annoyed and my babysitter was waiting for me at home. I looked back at her because I could not believe the tone of voice she had used with me!!! As I was walking toward the door she had some more remarks. She was so snotty if I wasnt in such a rush I would have complained about her then and there. I have never seen this person before in my life. I had done nothing to her. I was just so taken aback by her attitude. Please let me know if you tell people to be rude to the customers in general so I can know if I want to continue to shop at Target. Thank You

I would have went & asked for the manager first off. I also would have asked her what her problem is and not to take it out on me.

Re: My Target Experience

Your receipt probably has a number identifying the cashier, or at least the register and transaction number so you could contact the store directly with that information, so the guilty party is reprimanded.

Re: My Target Experience

I don't think you are wrong for being upset with your experience...but, I do think you explain yourself way too much in what you wrote to describe the situation. Remember the retail mantra - 'the customer is always right.' You are the customer - and you are entitled to polite, professional and curteous treatment when you enter a Target establishment to spend money.

Customer service is a skill - for some people, it comes naturally and others it doesn't. But, starting off a complaint with 'I wonder if you hire rude people...' is passive-aggressive, IMO. If you want to get any satisfaction, you have to kill 'em with sugary kindness - it gets you a lot further - especially when making complaints!

I'm interested in hearing if they respond to you, and how they try to make you happier, if at all.

Re: My Target Experience

Yes, I may have explained myself too much but I wanted to get my point across that I did nothing to the cashier to deserve the attitude I received. I know she should have been nice to me regardless of me giving her an attitude I just want to make sure they know it was unprevoked!

Yes, I also could have chosen a better 'opening statement' but I am very annoyed by this persons behavior!!! I wanted to get right to the point of my complaint. No beating around the bush here.

I do have the receipt with the sales # on it. Im sure they can track it that way. I will let you guys know what happens when I get a responce.

Re: My Target Experience

What you can do (if you still have the receipt) is call the store ask to speak to the manager & tell them that you were there on that day. And then give him the #'s on the bottom of the receipt (they don't have there names on it! (can you tell I just came back from Target! ) He/she should be able to figure out who you had the problem with.
