my tiara... what do you think?

So, I posted last night that I had my materials for my diy tiara, and I did most of it last night, and it looks fantastic! (at least, I love it)

Then it suddenly hit me today that the beads I chose to accent it might not work with the rest of my jewelry, which I hadn't even thought about before...

I found these gorgeous blue opal beads (well, I don't know if they're real opal, but that's what they look like) and I love the way they look on the tiara, but the rest of the jewelry I wanted to wear is diamond and/or sapphire. I could switch the opals out for clear crystals, or get some deep blue crystals... I just love the opals so much. I also have a beautiful set of opal jewelry I could wear instead, but I really wanted to wear the diamond/sapphire stuff... ack! What do you think?

and here are some close ups of the different color options. I was almost done with the opals when I had this realization, so it's mostly those, with one each of the two crystal colors... the dark blue wouldn't be those exact ones, those are just beads off an old bracelet, but it would be somewhere along those lines.

so... what do you think? will the opals be ok with my jewelry?

also, just keep in mind that it's not totally finished off yet, which is why there's so much wire and some of the beads are a bit crooked and such. I don't want to finish it off until everything is all done. Thanks!

wait... I'm confused... what is your opinion?

I'm asking for honest opinions... that's why I posted! I know this really isn't most people's style, which is absolutely fine, but the usual kind of tiara just isn't my style... and that's fine too! So, that's why I was just asking about the bead colors... because I know a lot of people wouldn't want to wear something like this, but they can still weigh in on if the colors work.

what are you planning on attaching the beads with? clear elastic, glue, or clear fishing line might be your best bet. I also think more beads would be needed if you want to go that route. I'm not so sure it will go with your jewelry though. Maybe clear will work better.. or different jewelry.. weigh your options and see what is most important to you! That is what matters! Good job being so DIY.. =) I dont have that kind of patience~

Ok it's really not my taste..but that is just my opinion like you said. As far as the beads go... I don't think those match your jewelry at all. Maybe clear crystal like ones and a bunch of them with clear wire or glue because you can see the strings on those too much. I am very happy you are trying this.. keep us posted with pics as you go along!

Hot glue gun, probably, with a little bit of the wire just to keep things in place.

Where would you say I should put more beads? I was going to keep it simple and not add too many more than that.

I still don't know what to do about the jewelry though... oy. Maybe if I stick with just diamond jewelry... like little diamond stud earrings and the necklace and tiara... so I don't have the conflicting blues.

Or I could make earrings to match the tiara... or wear the opal jewelry... I don't know. I think I'll have to see how it all works with whatever dress I pick and see.

Okie Doke...honesty I'll only give.

First off...If you love it...and you feel like a bride or a princess in it....Than that is all that matters..not what anyone else thinks....and that is what would matter to me

Now for my opinion...I noticed you said that its not done...so I'd love to see it done so I'd could really see what the finished look is. But honestly....I think it needs a ton more crystals. Otherwise...it kind of looks like super thick wire..like a hanger..you need to add some more clear crystals for some sparkles. I guess it also depends on how you do your hair which will change the look as well. I feel as if it looks like a tiara you use to play dress up..not for your wedding. I just think its too much wire..It needs something more..or thinner wire. I don't think it does your face justice....It doesn't look like a tiara to me...

Again..like you said..its not everyone's style. So that is where my opinion may not help..because its not my style. But if this is your style...and you are super happy with it...then go for it.. Your happiness is all that matter....I just don't think its very tiara looking.

i would add more beads to where you already have them, instead of a single bead put three.. you dont have to add more to certain areas, just add more to the ones you already have. Did that sound confusing?

When using the hot glue gun, just make sure it doesnt leave a huge plop. Go easy with those suckers, theyre tough.. dont use wire at all though, i would definitely go with something clear.. That would work best..

as far as jewelry goes, i would definitely go with plain diamonds.. that would look good together..

oh, that's a great idea, little clusters! I didn't even think of that. I'll give it a try.

What's kind of funny though is that the tiaras most people wear remind me of things I used to wear when I played dress up... just more expensive.

Eh, like I said, to each their own. I really like the wire look. You are right about it looking wierd on my head, but that's honestly just the picture, it was hard to get a picture of it on my own head without getting a wierd angle, and it's also not really staying put right now so it was in a wierd place - I'm going to have to anchor it down with bobby pins for the wedding, since it doesn't have a comb.

Its not really my style but then again Im not the one who will be wearing it at the wedding- its unique and if you like it then I say ROCK IT GIRLFRIEND! besides variety is what makes weddings so beautiful and gorgeous - imagine if everyone had the same taste how boring would wedding be!!
