just thought i would let you in on my trip to the milleridge in Jericho. In a word, upsetting.. I did not know this, so it is probably my fault, but to have your wedding at the cottage house, you need to guarantee 175 people, plus pay a room fee.. well our wedding will be a bit smaller.. about 100, 120 tops.. so Nadine showed us the carriage house.. it is one room.. thats it.. if the weather is nice you can get lucky and have the coctail hour under a tent in front of the carriage house, but if not, the cocktail hour and the reception are all in the same place.. it is way too small and I cannot even imagine all the guests standing around while they clear up the cocktail hour.. the only menu I would consider is the three star.. that looked excellent, but the price for a saturday afternoon wedding for the three star is 92.00 per person, plus 17% service charge and tax bottom line is about $115 per person.. to me that is a lot of money to pay to have your guests sit in the same small room for 5 hours.. the cottage house looked beautiful.. but what i did not like, if I was a bride, was, when we got there.. a wedding ceremony was going on.. so people are having their pictures taken, and there my fiancee and I are walking in.. i felt so bad.. we tried as much as possible to stay out of the way... so if you are planning your wedding at the cottage house, that is great, but my feeling is that the carriage house leaves a lot to be desired..

Tami - are you booked there already? have you tried looking at George Washington Manor? I had my wedding there May 5th - the room minimum is 95 and the max is 150 - sounds like it might be a good fit.

Tami- I also looked at the Milleridge Carriage House. I felt the same way as you. My problem was also that we wanted to marry there as well, so the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception would have all been in the same room, because we want to marry in December. I checked out the GW Manor (same owners) and loved it. They have their own chapel, which is a separate building and adorable! Same menu too, so if price is a concern, it may cost the same unfortunately. But we also looked at the Stewart Manor CC and loved it too, and the price is excellent. We still haven't booked yet, but we're going back and forth between both. The best of luck to you in making your decision!

Nadine had told us about that place as well.. my aunt had her wedding there, and I did love it.. no we have not booked anything yet.. we are also thinking of taking a look at the Swan Club.. I heard nice things about that as well.. Thank you for the info!!!

Thank you!! Costs are always a factor, but I am willing to pay as long as my guests are not stuffed into one small little room.. I heard great stuff about the GW manor.. and was there for a wedding, and I did like it.. thank you!!! good luck in your planning as well!!!

Quiet honestly Sandra I forgot all about that, thank you for bringing it to my attention.. I guess as a new bride to be I made a little error,which I am sure most brides on this board can understand (I did say,'.. I did not know this, so it is probably my fault'). I am sorry if you took it as personaly offensive, I was just giving my opinion of the place.. weather I knew about it or not ahead of time does not matter as much, because the bottom line is We did not like the room. I am sure they do beautiful weddings there, and again I apologize for taking your time and I am sorry if my comments about the Milleridge bothered you in any way, I did not mean to upset anyone.

I would also try Windows on the Lake. The room there is supposed to be beautiful and it overlooks the water. Check it out.

I also heard great things about George Washington Manot. We decided to go with Stewart Manor CC since we would be the only party there. The price was pretty reasonable, I heard great things about the food and the service, and the catering manager was a pleasure to work with. We only had to guarantee 100 guests and we plan to have about 130 show up. There web site is www.stewartmanor.com. Good luck with your search!

The GW Manor is beautiful. I had friends who had their wedding there and rave about it. You can also look at the Meadow Club in Port Jefferson. It is beautiful and not too expensive. I have seen it decorated for Christmas. I agree, your guest should not be waiting around while the staff clears away the cocktail hour and sets up for dinner.

Tami, I was recently in long island and milleridge showed us the same room for 75 people. I feel the same way you do. They were very nice though. But anyway, I think yo should check out swan club or westbury manor. Good luck!
