My unique CP idea... Please tell me the truth (Pic Included!)

Here's the scoop:
I'm not such a huge fan of flowers....I love them, I just can't justify blowing soooooo much money on my CP's for my 22+ tables... So I came up with a different idea for my CP's, one that really is relevant to me.. an Herb Garden CP! I have always had a love of cooking, so I thought this idea would be really cute. Mom is giving grief, saying how 'different it is' and how some people 'won't appreciate it, and think you are just being cheap'. Yes, it is inexpensive (only costing me after tax 21bucks!!! That saves me over 2000!) Please tell me what you think.. I made a sample and the pic is below... Need your opinions, as you are THE guru's on all wedding issues

I love the idea....but i think u should add flowers=color.
Go with silk flowers....they are pretty and cheap...

I think it is a GREAT idea & will really go with your whole wedding theme...

Someone did bring up a great point though, the smell...I am not sure how powering they would be...maybe if you keep it inside on the dining room table & see what happens...Otherwise, I think you should stick to your guns!!!

Hey girl...I really like it...

But I think it would be even more awesome in seperate tins as someone suggested. That way one person can take 'rosemary'...etc.

Different size containers would be cool!

I think it's so different but in a cool way. I am looking at CP's right now that bring in a lot of cool greenery...I'm feeling you!

I love it. I am not a huge fan of blowing thousands on flower centerpieces that are going to die.

I am also making mine. They aren't completed yet but I love them. They are unique and they fit my personality and wedding theme!!!

SO go for it!!!!

Kiddo, I love this idea. To me, it's missing something, though. I think a few different sized tins would look better, or maybe a colored 'planter'. More of a variety maybe.

You should try and bring it to the Carlyle, they'll let you set it up on a table to see how it looks.

I think I might just have to trek over there and see if I even really love it on the table! lol...
I had originally wanted all candles for my CP's, but since it's a day wedding, I don't think it would really be appropriate. I know I want to put something else on the tables around the herb gardens, but I'm just thinking of what....

I LOVE IT...very original...the only thing I would do is try to dress it up w/o it costing you alot...maybe see what some votive candles look like, or try and paint something decorative on the pot...I wouldn't change your idea though...and if its going to save you $2000 its even BETTER

i think its a wonderful idea and very different. i think people will appreciate it cause for the ones that take it home they can plant it and use for their cooking needs.

I think its great that you are making it yourself and doing something that reflects your personality but I agree with some of the girls that some color would help. I think using a more colorful ribbon would dress it up. I also like the idea of putting the herbs in differnet sized containers. In the end you should do what you want- because its your day.

Do YOU like it? IMO, I don't think it's formal enough, but if you dig it, than go for it!

PS - very original idea though, and again, perfect for an outdoor/day setting.

In my opinion it is your wedding and if you are happy that is all that matters. I think the idea is extremely creative and you have an endless amount of options on ways to 'spice it up' (no punn intended)

I don't think it would work for my wedding since I am having a black tie affair, but if you are having a southern living type wedding I say go for it!
