DO you think its ok-- he said DONT paper train because then he will always go inside. I didnt know this. I ve never had a puppy before any words of advice?

Yes. I wouldn't bring him to say, a dog park, or petsmart or whatever, but outside in your yard should be ok.
Potty training - if you can, take him out EVERY HOUR! Make a big deal every time he goes outside.

I've been looking for a breeder on the island for a pug my inlaws have one and he is such a doll and i can't wait to get one...Do u recommend anyone??

our dog grew up in an apartment in NY...on wee wee pads...whenever he would go out to LI...he would go outside - instinctively...now in CA...he is exclusively outside...we never told him...he just did it on his own...and never wanted another wee wee pad
if he is still in the training phase...and having trouble learning...take a rag that you use to clean up his 'accident' and put it by a tree in your yard or near your house...where you want him to go...he will smell it and want to go there...
he may not fully get this until he is 4-5 months...thats usually when it all sinks in for puppies...

I love pugs. I have one!! She is the best dog ever. We did not paper train her. We started bringing her right outside. Pugs are very smart but stubburn. They will learn very quickly but my pug used to have mistakes alot in the house. Now when she has to go out she scratches on the door.

It is ok to take puppies right outside when you think they have to go but in an area that NO other dogs have been. Puppies dont get all of their shots until they are about 4 months old and can catch diseases from other dogs, cats or even squirrels. So if you have a spot in your yard that is safe or take paper and put it outside.

I think this is the only pug breeder on Long Island. But my boss got a black pug from them and they are very happy.
