My walk down the aisle-input PLEASE

Original post by AUG21-04

My father has not been the best by a long shot, but when it comes to a girls wedding it the father that walks the bride down the aisle. I have been going back and forth if I should ask him. When I was younger my brother was killed and I always thought of him doing the honors. Now that he is gone my MOHs husband said that he would be my new big brother. I know that this an honor for whom ever I ask. But which one should it be?

Re: My walk down the aisle-input PLEASE

I walked down the aisle by myself... and i did have a father-daughter dance. It was a short dance... to 'Isn't she lovely' by Stevie Wonder... but I still did it.

The way that I saw it was... I've been living in here in NY while my parents have been in MA... they havnen't helped me financially and didn't help out for the wedding. I was just so used to doing things alone, I thought it would be fitting to walk down that aisle solo and have all eyes on just me.

It was great! I'm not going to say that it was easy... because it wasn't. But I was really proud of myself for doing that... Plus DH loved it when the church doors opened and there I was... he said I looked like an angel...

Thanks sn00k I agree I am also the type of person that does everything by myself. And they are not paying for anything either

I had both my mom and my dad walk me down. My mom raised me most of the time, but I didn't want my dad to feel left out. Edited to add: my parents didn't pay for anything, so that had nothing to do with my decision...
