I decided to get 2 rings because I need a 'plain' band to get married (jewish tradition can't have stones). I figured i'd find something inexpensive that way I won't feel too guilty spending the money. I figure i can wear it when I go away and don't want to bring my ring.
I found this ring which I really like but i'm not sure if it's too masculine? It's a Hebrew phrase and in English it means 'I am my beloved and my beloved is mine'.
If I get a plain band, I'd probably wait until its on sale at someplace like Kmart or Kohl's. (A few weeks ago I saw something that was ordinarily $200 and on sale for $50)
ETA: I've never seen the ring in person i'm not really sure where I would even look.
i think its cool and i like that it goes with your culture....its different and i am all about being different!.....the saying on it is beautiful - i think its pretty cool

Re: My wedding band debate
I love it - it's similar to a ring I saw last night that I love and want (I'm trying to find a pic).
It's beautiful Jenn - go for it!

Re: My wedding band debate
I'm not sure how to vote on this one because i'm confused...
Would this be your wedding band that you wear all the time - or is this ring the plain band that you need for the ceremony & for vacations and such??

I'm jewish and really like the ring. However, I have small hands and would prefer a more delicate version on me. If you have small hands a more delicate version might look better on you too. Have you seen any others?

I thought Jewish tradition you are to get married with a plain gold band. Thats what I am doing and I'm borrowing it from FH family which has been passed down (my 'something borrowed')
oh, and LOL at the name of the website (mile chai)

Thats my concern as well. It might be a little chunkier than I like. I've seen other rings but not at decent prices. I saw it on ebay and sent an email to the seller asking if it was meant to be a mans and whether or not it could be engraved. I haven't heard back but I think they're in Israel so it could take a day or two.

I thought this would/could be considered a plain gold band. I've seen it advertised as a 'Jewish wedding band'.

Re: My wedding band debate
I think for the ceremony it's GORGEOUS - however I do have one with the same writing on it - but i don't think it's in Hebrew....and the sentiment matches...
Let me pull it up for you on the site where Dave got it for me!

Got it - and they have one in Hebrew too - not only English!! WOO & HOO!

I really like that first website...I think i'm gonna show them to FH for his ring. The inside engraving is really cool!!!
I wanted to get something less expensive for me though especially since we'll be buying a second ring. The one I saw on ebay was only $30. (IE i'm cheap).

I think its supposed to be completely plain, nothing on it. Let me see if I can find something that explains what we really need

What really svcks is that I would LOVE to do gold to match his ring...but for those prices, i'd stick to silver.

You rock!
I would ask the rabbi but I don't know when we're meeting with him. I think the temple told me Dec/Jan. He's reform but I don't think as liberal as some (he won't do mixed marriages).
