My wedding is 50 people or less..cant find reception hall!

My wedding is 50 people or less..cant find reception hall!

My tentative wedding date is 10/9/2010. I know, its only a year away and I should have done more by now but the fact is I only have 50 guests at most (both my fiance and I are from small families) and I already visited 85% of the catering halls in Long Island.

I am down to selecting either Westbury Manor or Manor East in Massapequa. I ruled out Coral House because I wasnt crazy about one of their rooms and others seemed too gaudy, required 100 guests at most, or were too far away from our ceremony location in Nassau county (ie WaterMill).

Westbury Manor quoted me a good rate for a range of 55 people, and Manor East has this great overall package deal that includes photography, limo, DJ and flowers.. I dont know which to go with, the Manor East seems like the easiest because I don't have to worry about planning for the incidentals like photography, DJ, etc.

I just can't decide, I was hoping I could hear suggestions from other brides who are having 50-75 people at their wedding and where they are scheduling the receptions.. Westbury Manor comes very highly recommended, but I have heard that their wedding cakes tend to be dry and the food/service may not be what was advertised.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Westbury Manor will be able to accomodate you ...

we have the hill room upstairs... and our min is 60 people which is easy to meet ... the room holds 100people comfortably.. but anyone pass that - i was told it is crowded.

I havent visited Swan Club but they quoted me some ridiculous price that cost more than Westbury Manor...not sure if I want to pay that much, plus its further away from us..

I'm also open to anything in Long Beach since we live on the south shore...Are there any catering halls in Long Beach?

Check out Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park. It has a room with a minimum 50 with a waterview. FH and I liked it a lot, it's between that and west sayville country club for us. WSCC is nice, but probably far for you since it's in suffolk county.

Westbury Manor seems really great. We really liked it and only didn't book because the smaller room was too small for us (couldn't fit 150 ppl) and the larger room was too big (min. 225). The hill room is really pretty though for the amount of ppl you're looking to have. I've heard nothing but good things about Westbury Manor and their service. I haven't seen Manor East so I can't comment. Good luck.

I have heard nothing but great things about Westbury Manor.. So many people have had their parties there (I found this out after we booked) and said the service and food was amazing. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I's go with Westbury Manor. I didn't want to book there at first b/c i felt we were there so many times (really only 2x) but i am so happy we did. They are awesome!!!!

Try Captain Bill's in Bayshore. It has a smaller room, is reasonably priced and the food is fabulous!

Swan Club quoted me $98 a head for a Saturday evening reception which is more than the Westbury Manor quote (although not by much).

Westbury Manor also has a 30% gratuity (more than the 18% at every other hall I went to). I'd rather not blow ALL my retirement savings on this so I want to pick a nice place that won't break my budget.

I may consider just consider moving my wedding to Friday night to get the hall I want..I just can't decide!

Smithtown Landing Country Club would be able to help you, I'm sure. Call them and see what their minimum is - they're very accomodating!

well, with a sat evening, i believe they give you the best package they have (viennese, seafood boat, etc).... My guests are still raving about the place and they think we spent a fortune on it which is even better lol ....

we opted for a sunday day wedding and it was just as good as any sat evening wedding ive been to... believe me, time and day does not make a diff...

have you looked at sans souci? it is lovely there with a beautiful view of the water. they would be perfect for a smaller event and they have reasonable prices!

I am checking out Swan Club and Sans Souci on Saturday...

I definitely second the Sans Souci idea. They are very intimate and I think a 50 person party would be lovely there. They also have three different menu options so you can stay within your budget. I'd also try the George Washington Manor. They have a smaller room and their prices are pretty reasonable. I'm very biased towards Westbury Manor because I booked there, but I think the Hill Room is beautiful. I also like the executive suite where you would have your cocktail hour if you used the Hill room. As for the food, I just ate at the restaurant Sat night and the food was AMAZING. This is coming from someone who is extremely picky where food is concerned. There were also two weddings going on and I chatted with a bunch of guests in the hall. I asked them about the food/service and they only had very positive things to say.
