My wedding is about 10 months away & I havent found a gown yet

Is this a bad thing ??? am i cutting it too close ??? I am a Plus size and i want to lose some weight since i get grossed out in everything i try on
what do you all think???

I ordered my dress in early January for my September 13th wedding & it was in in June.

ETA: I also told the store my wedding date was a month earlier. I had been losing weight and lost another 15lbs approx. by the time I went for my first fitting

Don't feel bad, neither have I and my wedding is about a month before yours!!! I'm the same way as far as the weight loss thing, too. I know that I am going to lose alot of weight between now and then (I've done it before) so I'm a little concerned about ordering a dress now, but I'm still shopping. You have to get out there and shop. One sales lady said something to me once that made a lot of sense. She said it's a wedding dress, you will look beautiful in all of them... it's all about which one touches your heart. So get out there and try them on until you find one you fall in love with because you will look beautiful in any gown!!

Did you try Lillette's in Baldwin? When I went to try on Plus Sized dresses they must have had 20 or 25 dresses there... and that's where I found my 'one'. Geri was also very nice and never made me feel like I was 'plus sized', where in other places it felt like I was.

Try RKBridal in NYC....they are located on 39th Street between 8th and 9th avenue. They are definitely the best kept secret with bridal dresses. Actually I believe their website is RKBridal.com...I'm guessing, but they have a website.

Mine is also about a month before yours & I haven't started looking yet. I was thinking late January, early February.

I understand how you feel, but I would start looking now. They can always take the dress in. You don't want to be limited to certain manufacturers due to your time table and you certainly do not want to be hit with rush charges!

Ack! I know exactly how you feel. I've been losing weight, so I'm very reluctant to order a dress, and my wedding is in JULY!! So far I've lost 35 lbs, and I want to lose at least that much more. I've decided that I'll get a dress from davids rather than order one from a manufacturer and have to deal with the dilemma of what size should I order, my size now, or the size I think I'll be by then. Davids has some really pretty options, and the saleslady told me that if I buy a dress now, and still lose more weight, they will exchange the dress for a smaller size. There are a lot of other places that sell off the rack too (Group USA, and a few places in PA), so I'm really not too worried, though I do plan on buying a dress by January.

I am getting married in October, and I plan on looking the end of January. That way I can lose ten pounds before I order my dress. You will look beautiful no matter what!!!

I got my dress at RK. I ordered it in September ( my wedding is in May ). They told me it would be 3-4 months. It came in 3 weeks. So, I would not start worrying.

10 months is still a long time. Relax!! Try not to get too nervous. You've got a long way to go!!!

i am plus sized too what i did was ordered it in the size i was at the time - because my dress doesnt have alot of beading and things it will be easy to take in as i drop the weight from the point i was measured till when it came in it is so big i had to hold it up while i was looking in the mirror -
centerreach bridal told me as long as i dont go down more than 5 sizes we can alter this dress - otherwise i can always send it back for a smaller size later on - the saleslady told me they have a better turn around on an exchange than on ordering the first time so i think it will be fine
