My wedding is on Rosh Hashanah!

Original post by Colby212

So when I booked my wedding date, I didn't think to consult the jewish calendar...there's not much I can do about it now. I'm half Jewish, but my family doesn't usually observe the holidays

But as I sent my 'STD' cards, I am finding that a few people can't come because of teh holiday!

FH and I are going to review the guest list tonight and find out if there are others that will not be able to come to the wedding...I can't believe this is happening! I have many other friends who are jewish that casually celebrate some of the holidays.

We can't change the date at this point...so I'm praying everything just works itself out.\

Any helpful advice from any jewish girls would be appreciated..and it's also ok if I'm just sh1t out of luck!

Re: My wedding is on Rosh Hashanah!

I wouldn't worry tooooooo much about it. My wedding is on a fast day, and the priest just advised that if we wanted to be technical about it, we should not serve meats or pick another day. We're not going to abide by that, because it doesn't apply to all of our guests, and we wouldn't want to force it on them. Personally I think religion causes more problems than good, but thats JMHO, and it pisses me off when I see people who become holy rollers only on holidays but generally give two poops the rest of the year. To me, that's not a devout person. So if you get a lot of people who decline to put on appearances of being religious, I'm really sorry for you, because that's not right. Once again, JMHO.
