I feel your pain, but in a weird sort of way I'm happy they're not playing today b/c FH would be distracted during the wedding!

Re: My Yankees let me down
Girl, I feel your pain. We're Saturday package ticket holders as well.
At first I was in shock, embarrassed.
Now I am INFURIATED!!!!
And now I hate my wedding theme cuz of them! HA HA HA!!
(obviously a Yankee theme...but I can't let that go, Yankes are the reason DH & I met in the first place)
I hate to say it, but I think Joe being fired might be a good thing. Believe me, I LOVE the man. I'd ask him to walk me down the aisle if I could. But something's not right. And it just might be time for a change- and for the curse of AROD to LEAVE!!!

Re: My Yankees let me down
I am a season ticket holder as well, we have friday nights. Me and my dad got them almost 10 years ago...time as flown, it really is depressing not getting to use the rest of the tickets especially the world series one, I held it in my hand hoping i would get to see them win a home world series game again. I really hope they dont fire joe torre, but i read an article and that is what it said, and they are putting lou pinella in his place.

Re: My Yankees let me down
I'm really depressed. We just choked-it was awful to watch. I had tickets for Tuesday's game and two WS games.
I went to the 1st playoff game though and that was great.
It will take a while for me to shake this funk.

FH said he heard on TV that 'it is reported that Joe Torre is fired'. He's not sure if it's true, but that's what they said.

what is going on with them? For years they were the team to beat. But, now they are being steamrolled.

I blame the fact that Melky wasn't in the lineup. There was no spark. No heart. You can have a BILLION dollar payroll, but you need to have that 'destiny' factor, like the '96 and '98 teams. I didn't even see one pitch of yesterday's game because of my bachelorette party, but when I heard they were losing 8-0, I almost threw up! How EMBARRASSING!!!!! From best record in A.L. to THAT?!?!!?
Maybe we do need a shakeup? And I can't imagine that Steinbrenner's not thinking the same after SIX YEARS without a W.S. win!!!

I am upset too. I don't think that Joe should be fired though. Has Steinberner forgotten who got them to the playoffs for 11 consecutive seasons!? He is a scapegoat for the fact that they keep wasting money on guys who are big hitters. They need to focus on getting more Derek Jeters in the line up....guys who are team players, not just out for a big hit and the glory. We need guys who will get base hits, move runners, and drive runs in. Not just smash a ball out of the park....all that ever happens is a buch of fly outs when they try to do that. UGH...well, I am still wearing my Yankees garter at the wedding!

Melky was in the lineup last night though.
I blame the fact that Moose and Johnson didn't pitch well enough- and Wang wasn't there to pitch the do-or-die game. You don't put Wright out there!
But geez, I just don't get how an all star line up from 1st to 9th can't score runs for 20 innings...unfathomable.

I agree... WANG should have been in there yesterday. Then Mussina today. Screw Wright. Obviously, you can't trust him for a big game because today they're playing golf.
Wow... Melky was in? I didn't think he was on the ROSTER, and wasn't sure if they were allowed to add him mid-ALDS. Interesting. They should have PLAYED him earlier. Maybe he got cold. Poor guy was KEY all season long, then the 'big money' players come back and he gets the shaft.
Whatever... the post before me is absolutely right. You need more Derek Jeters - more team players. Less A-Rod 'Look at me, I'm a movie star' players. I do like Damon, though.
