Mystery Reception

Has anyone ever been to or heard of a reception where you get the directions to the party at the church???


We were invited to a wedding in MA and the invite gives the info for the church, then Dinner and Dancing to follow
(directions will be given at church)

I'm curious as to the reason for this aside from possibly wanting to make sure everyone shows up for mass!

I've definitely never heard of such a thing! Weird!

I think so...I've seen directions given out at the Church but the invitations had all the information as well.

Or it's just a casual reception...they didn't see the need to give all that information out in the invitation??

Maybe they are still finalizing reception plans, or are making a last minute change? Or maybe it is a way to get everyone to the church.

I had never heard of NOT going to the ceremony and only to the reception until I moved to NY. I grew up in the midwest and it was always a package deal - not going to the ceremony would have been thought of as very rude. Of course the reception was always immediately following too, none of this 2-4 hour lag between the ceremony and the reception.

I have only heard of this on E! channel for celebrity weddings when they dont want paparazzi waiting for them there, I have never heard of this for 'regular' people!

Hey! I never thought of this! I somewhat know the groom, (fathers cousin) but know nothing about the bride. Maybe she is a celebrity!
Nah, doubt it... if she was, I don't think that they would have referred us to the Econolodge as our only option for overnight accomodations!

That's what I was thinking!
MAybe thing are still up in the air. I knwo peopel geting married in 5 weeks that just changed the location.
