N.Y. approves tough anti-vice laws

NEW YORK, Dec. 31 — On the eve of the year’s biggest party night, Mayor Michael Bloomberg approved one of the nation’s toughest anti-smoking laws while Gov. George Pataki toughened the state’s drunk driving statute.

Hmm I agree with what Bloomberg is doing but, how about cleaning the ohter crap up in the city.

Yeah great, he is fighting smoking cigs, but what about illegal drug offenders. We are being treated like criminals and we are not.

I would love to blow smoke in Mike's face.

Im cranky today.

i was just shocked coming to NY and seeing so much smoke indoors .. i guess being in california spoiled me by keeping me away from that. so hopin NY gets smoke free before i move out there hehe.

I am an ex-smoker & HOPEFULLY my FH will become one as well. But I think this law is the STUPIDIST thing in the world!!!!! Bars will lose buisness!! it just BAAADD!!!

Shamma-Pulic transportation is going up!! I think I heard $2.00 to ride now!!

My friends & I were discussing it & we were laughing saying the next guy to becoma Mayor is going to be a blue collar, chain smoker, who loves beer!!! (Damn if only Dennis Leary wasn't from Boston!!)

Bloomberg is a Business Man.. He isn't for the people..

IMO what he is doing is trying to reshape the city and get out the riff raff.. He thinks by increasing $$$ on everything people will be forced to move out..

Idea is.. Richer get Richer..

I hate him and how he behaves ..

He doesn't even live in Gracie Mancion.(sp)...

I hate him!

I dont smoke, but I think Bloomburg is a jerk. As much as he says he loves NYC I dont believe him. He does not care for NYC. JMO
