I would like a french manicure (my girls are getting pink french manicures, I think - whatever they do I really don't care...)
My nails are short or all different lengths - I had tips for a year and wound up not wanting to deal with it anymore - they took too much time to keep up, and it was expensive, and the removal process..... ick...
BUT -
should I get tips for the wedding?
would a short french manicure look bad in pics?
ALSO -
I know french's don't last long, so how soon in advance should I get the mani/pedi - if I am getting married Saturday afternoon, should I just find the time to do it sometime on Friday?
Help - if there is one thing I know nothing about, its nails...

Re: Nail questions
You could try the permanent french tips- it looks great on everyone as long as its done right. They will definatly look great in the pics~ My wedding is on June 11- so I am getting the tips put on -May 20- then I am going for a fill on June 9- It looks a little better once it's filled for the first fill-in ~ but it still looks great either way. They put a UV gloss on it to seal it in- and it lasts sooo long- putting clear polish over it does nothing but make it look dull.
I go to Nail Pro in the Walt Whitman Mall- Kenny does my nails~ but everyone ther is good! I used to do nails so I am very picky about who does it.
Let me know if you have more questions

Re: Nail questions
def get your nails done for the wedding...you can take them off after the HM. And I think nails that are done always look nice in pics
I would get the permanent french...It last longer and is also chip resistant.

Re: Nail questions
If you're not interested in upkeep I would find time to get them done on Friday. A french manicure looks fine on short nails, just make sure the nails are filed down so they are all the same length. If you're truly concerned that it won't look good, then I would suggest skipping the white on the tips and just painting them the pink color that is used. It looks just as pretty in pictures.

Re: Nail questions
Here are some pics where you can kinda see my nails~
but if you want to get them done for the wedding it last about 3 weeks~ You can get them done once so there really is no upkeep~

Re: Nail questions
It is $40 ~ then $5 for the UV gloss- it's sooo worth it! My nails always look like they were just done! FI and I actually had a fight recently b/c he thought I had gone to get my nails done- and they were 3 weeks old! Tell them you want the Pink & white~

Re: Nail questions
I'd just get a regular french manicure. I really am not a fan of tips especially since they can make your real nails very weak and have infection issues.

Re: Nail questions
That's true only if you go to a salon that uses bad powder and bad monomer- and they don't have trained/licensed ppl working on your nails.

yeah, my experience was just the weak nails - but I'll get something and ptrobably remove them before the HM since we arent going until August - I DO want nice close up pics of my hands....

Re: Nail questions
Liza, I just got the permanent french at Canele in Commack, they came out great. I got it ALL gel, so it will last a couple of months, a lot longer than three weeks. I love the way they look and they did a really great job. It was $65.

Re: Nail questions
i dont think a short french manicure will look bad at all..in fact i prefer short nails to long nails. the more natural looking, the better.

Re: Nail questions
I am thinking about getting my nails done the day before the wedding so at least I know the french will last throughout the honeymoon.... I dont think short nails with a french will look bad at all, so if you dont wanna ruin your nails just for a short period of time then just go with the french on your reg nails...

Re: Nail questions
I used to have silk wraps on my nails. They weren't as bulky or hard to keep up as acrylic, and the polish stayed on really well. I'll probably put them back on for my wedding.
