Nail 'Splinters'....UPDATED Went to doc

I seem to have these splinter like things appearing in my finger nails and the only thing I have been able to find was that they can be a sign of bacterial endocarditis, a heart valve infection.
So of course I am freaking out, waiting for the doctor to open so I can call. I notice one earlier in the week then another and now 4 nails have them.
I am just wondering if anyone else has had these and they are nothing? I can't imagine why or how I would have a heart infection but it's freaking me out.

***UPDATE***
Well I went to my family doc this morning and he said that it looks like nail trauma even if I don't specifically remember doing something it could have easily happened.
But on the cautious side he said just watch them and make sure it grows out with my nail and if that's the case, which he feels it will be it's nothing to worry about. He said it definitely didn't look like the heart infection signs, nor cancer (which I worried about also since I have had skin cancer issues) or a fungus.
I feel better having gone even though I was being paranoid and he is so understanding that I didn't feel like too much of an idiot for being so crazy.

Your body is going through so many different hormonal changes, don't drive yourself crazy, it could be as simple as a vitamin deficiency which is very easy to solve, do you have any other symptoms?

Ive learned from experience not to self diagnose from the internet although I still always do- 99.9 % of the time its nothing serious and I worry myself sick for nothing.

So glad to hear this. I agree, don't surf the web, we get selective with what we read, we don't read the common ailments, we tend to jump to the life threatenng possibilities. If I had every disease the net said my ailments caused, I would of had brain tumors, ovarian tumors, bone cancer, diabetes, etc.
