Nails...

What's everyone doing for the wedding? I think next month I either want to get gels or wraps, but I don't know the difference. Which is better?

I had silk wraps put on a few months ago and I love them. I had acrylic for many years and the wraps are better I think. My nails underneath are not as weak and they don't break as easy. HTH

I think they were $40 for the set and fill ins are $20. Originally I did the UV gel over the wraps and it was a little extra but I think I am going to stick with just the wraps. Every place prices differently though

I've been getting my nails done for years. Gel will give your nails a nice shine even if you don't wear nail polish. I believe its better for your nails then acrylic, however the process is a bit longer. I always thought wrapping your nails was when they put acrylic, gel or silk on your real nails, no fake nails are added. This is what I do. When they are wrapped they don't break off, its the only way my nails grow. A full set of acrylic should cost between $25 and $30. Gel set could cost $10 to $15 more. Not sure how much silk cost but should be around the same price for Gel. Once you get a full set you will need to get a 'fill' after two weeks or so. They fill in the gap that grows during the two weeks. Expect to pay $20-$25 for most types of fills. HTH.

Basically, neither one are good for your nails. Both weaken your nails. Its really a personal preference. Gel are nice because they look more natural (no tips if your nails are long enough) and wraps are the same. If your nails aren't long enough, then you are going to need tips under both sets. Acrylic are the strongest.

I'm going to do gel tips for the wedding. I heard your nails have more of a chance of breaking with the wraps since its your real nails. I've done gel and acrylic in the past and never had problems with either -- but the acrylic ruined my nails when I took them off

A gel manicure is basically like getting a much thicker clear nailpolish put on your nails - it's supposed to be less damaging than any kind of wrap or acrylic because they are not fusing a material to your nail with glue/gel - it's just the thick gel.

I will either do completely natural nails with a french manicure or a gel manicure with a french because the polish will last longer with the gel on underneath.
