Nails

Any of you girls are doing tips or silk wraps for the day of the wedding?
I have very short brittle nails and I want some sort of extensions but have no idea what to get or what salon to go to...?
I don't need anything that'll last for a long time just make them longer, French and a small design, like a silver stripe or something!
I’m going to Dashing Diva tomorrow. Anyone heard of them? They have the virtual nail thing which only lasts about a week, but they don't do any designs, just French.
Ideas Please....

I'm probably going fairly simple. I don't have long nails so some of those options don't work for me.

I do not know the location you mentioned.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Nails

Dashing Diva is supposed to be really good.

The nail polish that stays best on me is by Creative Nail Design. A lot of salons don't carry their stuff, but it's SO GOOD!

Only with that brand can I go 5 days without a chip. A good website to get their stuff is goindulge.com.

I have almost all their colors, I'm a bit obsessed and I know a lot of girls that work for the company.

i have acrylic and will keep them on for the wedding...i do not reccomend that you get acrylic bc they do not protect your nails underneath....ive heard that the silk is supposed to be better for your natural nails, but have had silk and experienced the same breakage and brittleness as with acrylic and IMO acyrlic is stronger and doesnt break as easily.

weekly manicures and a good base coat (something by sally hansen maybe) will help you nails...also GNC has a nails and hair vitamin, that tastes like garbage but works pretty well

Oooh, do let us know how Dashing Diva goes! Which location are you going to?

There's one in Park Slope near me, and another in Downtown Brooklyn near where I work.

I'm still trying to grow my nails (always bit them... I'm going on 10 days absolutely NO biting, ever since my very first manicure), but if they won't grow as long as I like between now and July, I may go for some sort of wrap or artificial help. I still don't know.

Have fun!

I hear biotin is good as well as pre-natal vitamins. Thats what I am doing in conjunction with this colombian nail treatment I am using and it helps make them long and strong.

dashing diva is good. . they make you buy your own nail kit b/c of health reasons but that seems like a pretty good sign. .my friend did the ones that stay on a week and loved them. . I have only had reg manicures there but it was pretty good. .

I have VERY brittle nails that always break and never grow. I have been using nail hardner in a very poor attempt to make my nails stronger.

I was thinking of getting tips the problem is we are leaving for the honeymoon the day after the wedding and I know that I will be annoyed by them the entire time. So I am going to try really hard just to grow them the tiniest bit and have them wrapped.

Good Luck!

I have my own nails that are pretty strong but I can't seem to grown them very long. I was thinking of going to dashing diva since they are supposed to be 'gentle' on your natural nails. Please let us know how it goes. I am going on a 3-week HM and am fine with them not lasting but don't want my natural nails underneath to be destroyed.

Ok, I have a question....

I have pretty long nails and get regular manis every 1-2 weeks. I plan on just getting a french on my nails (no extensions) for our wedding.

However, I know that this will chip after a few days. I had silk wraps a long time ago, but I really can't remember...What exactly is wrapping your nails? Does that make the polish stay on longer??? Or does it just make your nail stronger?

Yup going to Park Slope salon tomorrow and will post results on Friday.
I'm going to get the virtual nail thing they have.
I will absolutely not be able to grow them long enough for the wedding. I'm a biter as well, it's like a disease tried to shake it forever. so I need something artificial!!!

Well supposedly this virtual nail thing that Dashing Diva is offering is suppose to come off in about a week and if you want to take it off before they can give u a soaking off thing and they'll come right off so that can be a good solution for your honeymoon...

Is the permanent French with nail extensions as well or u have naturally long nails?
Only French or with a design as well. My friend had like a silver stripe under the French on her wedding day looked really pretty. That's what I'm aiming for

I have no idea about that but how about that permanent French thing Kerri suggested?

Very cool!

I go to classy nails on the corner of Union & 7th Avenue (it's right near me) -- they are so nice there and do an excellent job. Can't wait to hear how Dashing Diva is!

Nail biting is the worst habit, and totally impossible to break! I'm on about day 10 of absolutely no biting right now, but I still find my fingers gravitating to my mouth... so awful.

I'm going to go with the gel over the nails in french
