Nails

What are you planning on doign with your nails? Usually I get manicures but I just fear that if I get a French it will chip. I really really really don't want tips, is there an alternative? Something that would look natural, like my regular nails but would keep them stronger and hold the polish?

I am getting my nails done the day before. For my hands I am either going with clear or an ESSI color called Fed Up. For my toes I will prob go with something fun that will work for the honeymoon. I do not want French at all.

I was going to get tips and then a few people said that it wasn't really me because i never have tips so now I feel like I just want my nails natural like I usually do. Is there like a gel or anything that might work?

Are your nails long?

Even if they aren't too long, you could use the permanent french powder acrylic on your own nails. I've done that before, and will probably do it for the wedding. I have a 4 month old baby, so long tips aren't going to work for me.

That might be an idea. I don;t have long nails so I don't really know if they'd be able to do it. I just don't want to have to keep up with it afterward.

Rejuvocate by Duri is an AMAZING nail strengther. I use it religiously and my nails are so strong.

As for neutrals, use Limoscene as your base and Adore-A-ball for the top....such a nice color.

I also fear the chipping of the French...just bring a bottle of white nail polish with you to correct it just in case :o)

well you can wrap your real nails in either silk wrap or get a uv gel manicure and its kind of like tips but not as harmful so it may stay and not chip .. also someone before was saying there is a place that has tips that fall off.. i dont remember let me see if I can find it for you

but this is like putting acrylic on your nails right? is that damaging? I acutally had the same fear as Jamie

I've been using Nailtiques to strengthen and grow my nails and it's worked really well so far. I plan on just getting a basic manicure. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect color. I like Madamoiselle but it's a little too sheer for the wedding. Waltz is nice, so is Fiji which is very opaque light pink.

My friend told me they are called teenage tips and last about a week and usually high school girls get them for the prom and they only cost about $20. Does the UV gel look natural?

No those arent it.. here is the website to the salon that does them ...

http://www.dashingdiva.com/our.concept/our.concept.asp

I have had the gel manicure before its like gel and powder over your real nails (which Im sure you can extend to make a nail - not sure though) and honestly it depends on the person doing them.. once the girl did them so think I hated them and I took it off, but when they did it thin it looked natural.. either way. I havent had anything on my nails since high school so Im not used to it

you had to soak them in accetone like acrylic, but I dont think it took as long as acrylic to remove

What makes me nervous is my honeymoon is 18 days long and I don;t want to have to worry about my nails while I'm there. Were your nails damaged after that?

I have the same prob with my nails, they always chip the next day but I'm just planning on going the night before....miraculously there is a nail salon by my house open from 6am-12am so Im planning on going late the night before.

As far as gel, I would try it before the wedding to see how it looks. I wouldn't do tips, they really damage your nails. I think your best bet is to throw a little white polish in ur emergency kit and touch up if necessary.

What nail salon is this? Maybe I will go there!!! My RD is the night before but if they stay open til 10 I will definitely have time. Maybe I should skip the French and just buy the color.
