nails for the big day
Anyone ever do a permanent french manicure? How does it look? I want to get my nails done in a way that they last through the night without polish chipping, etc., but I don't want to get tips. Any suggestions?

I've never gotten them, but I have a friend who has had them for years. I believe hers were tips, which I think you have to do w/ that particular type of nail. It's like a french manicure that never goes away or chips, they keep filling it in. But you can polish over it, which is great, and if you take the polish off, your nails still look good. If you didn't have tips or the forever french, your french would come off very easily, as polish does not stay on natural nails. I think it's definitly worth it for you to do, and that way your nails will def. last through the HM! HTH!
I have the permanent french and I love it! Just make sure that they use white powder instead of white tips. Classy Lady Nails, Etc. in Farmingville is the best nail salon ever! Try to have the owner Paulette do them. She's amazing!
yeah they do look nice...im thinking of doing it as well....really short...
Do they polish over it?
I have permanent French tips. I absolutly love them. and yes they can polish over them with whatever color you wish. I left mine alittle longer just to see how I like them, then I am cutting them down just a tiny bit for the wedding. I didnt want my nail length to be overpowering in the hand shots!
The one time in my life I had nails I had permanent french tips. They were great. I didn't have to put nailpolish on if i didn't want to, but I could put polish on over them too.
IMO I found that the permanent french tips broke WAY easier than regular silk tips. I had regular tips forever and they never broke and as soon as I got the permanant French ones I had 2 break within a couple of days. I really liked the idea of the permanant french ones and they do look really nice but I found it to be too much maintenance. Now I just have my regular nails which are very strong and grow fast--I just wish the polish wouldnt fade so fast on real nails....tips hold color so much longer it seems.
I have had permanent French for about 2 months now, They look as good as when I first had them done. No chips or cracks .
What's the upkeep involved?
