I want to get my nails done for the wedding, but Im allergic to nail polish. its doesnt matter if its colored or clear. I get a rash on my eyes and my cheeks.
I wanted to know if anyone else had the same problem, I do want to get my nails done. I have tried the white tips an they put this cream and buff it to a shine so it looks like nail polish and that worked but i dont like the white tips i think its to much white.
Any suggestions would be great!!!

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
I would just get a really good manicure and have them buff your nails(shine). don't take any chances, I am sure they will look great. Maybe they can put a crystal or something on your nail to add a little something.
I just read it's real nail anamel so you may still be allergic, sorry!!

some places have those kind of tips but in different colors - ask irishsweetheart she went to a place that had them. . . maybe they have a soft pink that you can try?

What about trying gels? It's also called pinks and whites. The gel manicures last for a long time! I'm not sure if you'd be allergic to the gel as well though.

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
I bet you're allergy is to one of the enamel solvents.... I wouldn't risk another nail product... it's simply not worth it.
I agree with the other poster... get a really nice nail shaping by a manicurist (make sure she uses a new emory board, so there's no risk of allergy) and a good buffing.
done correctly, it will look better than a french manicure! You can also use a bit of white chalk under your nails to subtly brighten the white area

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
I have very short nails since I big them so it would look horrible if i got a real nice manicure.
Im not allergic to the acrylic im allergic to nail polish, so i think gel would be ok, does gel have a shine to it? cause i know acrylic is kind of dull

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
Yes it definitely has a shine to it. They basically file the very top of the nail to get a few ridges so the gel will stick to it (not bad at all) and then put a pink base, white tip gel, and then a clear or pink gel on top of that. AFter each coat they dry under a UV light. When your done it has a shiny top and doesn't chip or smudge for 2 weeks. You pay around 80 for the set and then you just do gel fillings for around 30 every 2-3 weeks. It's convenient b/c it does chip or go really dull. I loved it - had them for 6-7 months but started getting expensive. Might be a good alternative, b/c they don't break and will look night, long and will be a french manicure for the wedding! I'm going to get them again when it's closer to my date.

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
what about the cheap $4.99 fake ones in the drug store? They have short lengths in different color french styles. I've used them in a pinch and no one can tell! (you could prob. even bring them into the nail place and have them put them on)

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
could they put nail color and then another coat of gel on top of the color so it doesnt touch my face. one of my friends have gel nails and she gets the french manicure brushed, but i always thought they put a coat of nail poish to make it shiny

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
if i were you, i'd get a very short gel extension and ask them to use the pink silk. it will be very subtle and look neat. i am a nursing student so we aren't supposed to have tips--i get gels during clinicals with silk and no one can even tell they are fake lol

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
I can do Acrylic, uv gels, silk. Im not allergic to that it regluar nail polish. What happens is when I sleep I usually put my hands next to my face and the nail polish irritates it and i get a rash, my eye lids swell. I tried the white tips with the buffing cream and I had no nail polish because the buff gave it a natural shine and I was fine no rash no irritation. So its not the stuff they put on the nail but the nail polish it self.
I just need some alternative other than getting nail polish. I think im goin to try the gel with the air brush french manicure look.

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
Maybe go to Nordstroms and have them do your nails- they do not polish them- they buff them. FM snowcutie82- she has had hers done there before. I think they buff them so well it looks like you have clear nail polish on.

I am not sure where they do it, but I def. heard of all natural nail polish...maybe google it. I am sure some organic healthy spa in the city does it!

Re: Nails for the Wedding Problem
If you get the UV gels with the permanent french, they don't use any nail polish and they look great.
