when i get married am i allowed to change my first name too? my sister's husband said i could change any part of my name when i get married. now i'm actually doing the research on this and i can't find anything about 1st name changes. btw-i just want to change my name from PAtricia to Tricia. can anyone offer any insight on this? You must speak with the Town Clerk b/c when you go in to complete your marriage license, they'll be verifying all this information and will tell you exactly what you need to bring with you.

my friend changed her name from Jeni Lyn to Jenilyn when she changed her last name- she did it at social security I think?

Everything I know, I learned from TV. . . Remeber on 'Friends,' when Phoebe got married and went to change her last name? The clerk told her that she could change her whole name if she wanted, and she decided to change it from Phoebe Bouffay to Princess Consuela BananaHammock?
If she could do it that easily, why can't you?

i checked out the marriage license app and it looks that is the case. YAY!!! but no Princess Consuela BananaHammock for me.

When you go for your marriage license you'll be asked to fill in what your new name will be. At that time you can put down your new first and last name.
After your ceremony, your marriage license will be mailed out and you will receive your marriage certificate in the mail after a few weeks. This will have your new name on it.
Then you bring your marriage certificate to the SS office and the DMV to offically start the name change process.
