For those who have changed their last name already....
Did you just go to the appropriate places yourself? (s.s. office, DMV, etc)
OR
Did you purchase a name change kit?

Everything that I've heard tells me that the kit is a waste of money. You really only have to go to two places: DMV and Social Security. The rest of the stuff you can do over the phone or online.

Yup, that's exactly what I was going to say!!
You have to go to the DMV and SS office in person. Everything else you can call in. I've also heard the kit is a waste of money. It really isn't as bad as you may think!!

my girlfriend just changed her name and it was pretty much the same thing.. we went to social security and the DMV in person... everything else she was able to mail in or do online or by phone.
